What we see happening should cause some rethinking of the idea of decentralizing some federal programs to the states.
The accepted wisdom is that state governments would be more conservative administrators of government programs than the federal government.
However that "common sense" notion doesn't seem to apply across the board.
And I would definitely not want to see a constitutional convention as many conservatives have been promoting.

Personally, I would rather a few states are screwed up - than the entire govt. Those states that fail, act as signposts for what NOT to do.
Otherwise, I share your concern about the CoS. For me, it’s a case of “the devil we know...”.
So screw the 10th Amendment when you don't like the results.
