Data published by the Labor Department on Thursday revealed that the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits is on the decline.

A Thursday report from the Labor Department highlighted a drop in the amount of Americans that are filing for unemployment benefits. According to the report, the economy has gained sufficient momentum to generate some inflation and shows overall signs of strengthening.

The report revealed that initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped by 3,000 for the week that ended July 8. According to labor market measures, this is the 123rd straight week that the application threshold has remained below 300,000, which is associated by economists with a healthy labor market.

Take away the H-visa programs, lower corporate taxes, and seal the borders and unemployment will drop even further. MAGA...

Statistics are bullshit. Andrew knew that. Apparently his namesake site forgot.

I know many people trying the hands at all manner of self-employment schemes to.survive, including as insurance agents (salary is a loan).

Unemployment numbers ate creme for idiot’s cookies...

You’re right of course. I am 73 and worked 27 hours this week on a part time job where an hour’s pay BEFORE taxes is just enough for lunch at Hardee’s or Burger King. We had a quarterly meeting where the general manager of our operation told us in glowing terms that once again the company has made huge strides in increasing the net income and how much the company “appreciates” what we all have done to contribute to that increase in income. Just one item he mentioned and gave us figures on will, according to his statement, bring in enough income that we could all have our pay rate doubled without making even a tiny dent in the bottom line but no mention was made of showing appreciation in a tangible way. If the South Carolina unemployment rate was really as low as the official figures claim everyone in the room would have been long gone before today because there would be a competition to see who can pay the highest rate. The BS is so deep you could lose an aircraft carrier in it. I am old enough to remember when the unemployment rate was almost as low as they claim it is now and you could hardly show your face without being offered a job.

Do they provide lotion with that quarterly meeting?

Best wishes to a hard worker. I hope I’m as lucid, cogent and physically able as you in 23 years. Having recently recovered my health at 50, you give me hope.
