It's not like we're running out of copper (otherwise, the price would be much more than $2/lb). If someone thinks this particular billion pounds of copper is worth more than what China is paying, they should make an offer.

Russia's uranium purchase under Clinton doesn't look so good -- for Russia. Probably because of fracking and more recently Trump, uranium is in a long-term bear market, with prices declining about 50% over the past 4 years.

That same Riady funded a Christian university in muslim Indonesia; he supposedly converted to Christianity in 1990, and is a Calvinist.

Anyway, that’s what they say.

Not to mention the tsunami damage in Japan and various European governments closing down nuclear reactors.

Sell them a pound, double the price, and repeat as often as they wish.

Don't think he's going to have to contact the Clinton Foundation, he's already well connected to the Clintons!

How the disgraced James Riady, barred from travel to the U.S., made it back from 2010, Washington Post

Story is complete with a picture of James Riady w/Bill & Hillary Clinton

“Why, what is zinc trading at?”

About $1.26/pound.

http://www.coinflation.com/unitedstates/

FYI, as of the close of trading on Friday, 95% copper pennies (3.11 grams, when new) have an intrinsic metal value of about 1.78 cents each, whereas the 97.5% zinc pennies (2.5 grams, when new) are similarly valued at 0.72 cents apiece.

Wow they should have a foreign money pay-to-play reunion. Get Riadi and Jonny Chung in here and the woman Chinese money spy as well. Not to mention whoever gave the cash to Al “no controlling legal authority-hold muh ice tea” Gore.

Definitely a reunion is in order for old times sake.

My how things have changed. Around 1300, pennies were made of silver.

1B lbs is 500k tons. I don’t see this as a major attempt to corner the market. Though it’s a significant buy.

1 contract is 25,000 lbs or 12.5 tons. So this would be 40,000 contracts. Latest charts show about 380,000 contracts trading per day on average so...

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of money at $2-$3/lb.

Farthings were made of bronze and were 1/4 of a penny.
Wonder what an English person could buy for a farthing.

Copper ammo? sounds like when Japan bought all the steel scrap from us in the 30’s.

That’s a lot of copper. What do the Chicoms need that much copper for?

A gigantic rail gun? A pulse weapon?
Or IPhones?

5.56mm

See post #33.

It’s a big buy, but not unrealistic. Like the recent coordinated mass purchase of American soybeans by the Chinese.
