The Democratic donor class is abuzz about Kamala Harris after the freshman California senator was feted this weekend at an event in the Hamptons surrounded by top fundraisers.
The Bridgehampton event, where Harris mingled with top donors and supporters of Hillary Clinton, was the ultimate signal that Harris is “thinking much bigger” than the Senate, one top bundler said.
ADVERTISEMENT “She’s running for president. Take it to the bank,” another fundraiser said. “She’s absolutely going to run.”
Donors say Harris is giving them a glimmer of hope when they need it the most.
They see the former prosecutor-turned-California attorney general as embodying the qualities a Democratic presidential candidate would need to win the White House in 2020.
They also see the 52-year-old African-American woman as a fresh face.
“There’s a big hunger out there for somebody new and different,” said Bill Carrick, a Democratic consultant who served as an adviser to former Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.), who challenged Harris in last year’s senatorial race.

Oh wow, just what the country needs, a female version of Obama. The male Obama turned out so well for the dems how can this be a bad thing.
Harris WILL be the dem’s 2020 nominee. And the media will praise her as the new Obama, but even better because she’s female.

She is the daughter of a Tamil Indian mother and a Jamaican-American father.
If you are trying to attract a % of the lowest common denominator voter, the ones that turn out based on things like skin color, then it is a good move. Just look at the margin of victory in the states that flipped for Trump, then look at the difference in minority turnout between Obama and Clinton in those states. They would have to be nuts not to run a minority.
But I’m not sure minorities turn out for a woman like they would a man.

A lot of us around here predicted this when she was elected to the US Senate. She’s the RATS new “star”. Oh oh Hillary. Looks like you’re going to lose the nomination to another black candidate. This will be a major catfight in 2020 between these two angry and bitter people.

Elizabeth Warren would mop the floor with her in a debate. Not that I like Warren for president, but she is a sharp tack.

'Camel-la' Harris - the rising West coast, fresh face liberal ?
or "Chuckie" - who never lets anyone get between him and the camera ?
