With tongue somewhat in cheek, I've advocated that all laws over 100 years old should sunset in five years. Those older than 25 in 10. If they are any good, they will be renewed, if not let them die.
The side benefit is that the politicians would be scrambling to obey the lobbyists so much they wouldn't have time to enact any new ones.
