Harley sells too many models, and are quite overpriced. Not to mention that the market is saturated with low mileage used bikes. They should have to adapt to the market or perish, like any other business.
“...the market is saturated with low mileage used [Harley-Davidson] bikes...”
Verrry interesting! Why should that be so?
Absolutely... Their own fault, they have priced themselves right out of business. 20,000 Dollars could buy 20 acres of land in a rural area or go a long ways towards a down payment on a home.
They are...that is what they are doing.
Harley also needs to expand their customer base to include short girls.
I can’t legally drive a single model Harley makes.
Overpriced is a gross understatement. A totally equipped Honda or Kawasaki cruiser can be had for about half the price of a Harley and with the Japanese bikes you are not giving up anything as far as quality or dependability.
They were riding the wave of baby boomers looking to own a Harley. That wave has crested.
And now they are targeting a younger market with their factory custom street bikes. They look cool but the first actually open road trip will convince the buyer they made a mistake. These bikes are good for the boulevard but not the open road. The open road cruisers offer more rider conveniences and comfort. After 50 miles on a narrow seat on a street bike your tail bone goes numb, your eating bugs with no windshield. and you got no place to store your gear. If your riding with a group of friends you better hope one of them has a cruiser that doesn’t mind carrying some of your stuff.
