ITSHWTCW is more about the 1950s than the 1860s. I mean, everybody is nice and decent, and everything works out in the end, and the world a century later looks the same as it does in our own reality. It's Eisenhower-era consensus all the way. By the end you kind of wonder why there even was a Civil War.
