Can the Senate Judiciary Committee sentence someone to jail for using the fifth?
To: Logical me
The Senate Judiciary Committee cannot prosecute or sentence anyone, period.
The most they can do in that direction is to make a recommendation or request to the Dept of Justice and FBI to open an investigation and/or prepare a prosecution.

Make him plead the fifth for half the day. Then, offer limited immunity on the condition that he tells the whole truth and turns over all communications.
Then continue the questioning, with the fifth off the table.
