POTUS SLAMS SESSIONS AGAIN: He Endorsed Me Because of Big Crowds, Not Loyalty

In a brief interview with the Wall Street Journal, President Trump ripped into Attorney General Sessions once again. This time, the President cut even deeper, suggesting Sessions endorsed him because of Trump’s success as a candidate, not out of loyalty.

President Donald Trump  expressed his disappointment in Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday and questioned the importance of Mr. Sessions’s early endorsement of Mr. Trump’s candidacy, but the president declined to say whether he planned to fire him.

“It’s not like a great loyal thing about the endorsement,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “I’m very disappointed in Jeff Sessions.”

While the President is still mum on his plans concerning Sessions, Scaramucci told NBC News a decision on the AG’s future will be made ‘shortly.’

“I didn’t know Sessions cared so much about big crowds.”

He doesn’t. He is an old-school conservative and crowds don’t mean so much to him. Sessions endorsed Trump because of his immigration stance. Sessions had been almost a lone voice on illegal immigration except for Cruz and a few others ... and then along comes Trump talking about building a wall.

“NeverTrumper’s out in force today”.

BS. Being concerned doesn’t equate to being “NeverTrumpers”.

No he isn’t. If you don’t have a stomach for the fight just stay on the sidelines and be quiet

Trump is still trying to goad Sessions into resigning, and apparently, Sessions is having none of it.

Two things could come of this confrontation: Either Sessions straightens up and flies right, like Trump wants him to do, meaning he then goes after the Clinton Foundation in a big way, or Trump shall have no choice but to fire Sessions.

Or this could just wrangle on for months, any serious prosecutions languishing, and the futile search for a scapegoat on the Russian collusion claims continues to eat up all the headlines and oxygen in the room.

Way too much handwringing on this thread. Sad. Pathetic.

There should never have been a special council or a recusal. There was no crime listed to investigate. Mueller is on a fishing expedition

If he’s THAT unhappy with Sessions he should call him in and ask for his resignation.

No, he just wants to see how long this POS Sessions will hang in before quitting.

The fact that he is still there indicates a reckless disregard for his reputation or actual malice.

HE GAVE CONTROL OF DOJ TO THE ENEMY!!

UNFORGIVABLE.

How about "Concern Troll" then?

In any NORMAL scenario it’s not grounds - but Sessions is overseeing Mueller who is investigating the president for alleged high crimes and misdemeanors. Firing Sessions is tantamount to interfering with that investigation and the GOPe would happily make their move.

if Sessions resigns there’s political cover.

I don’t like it at all - and I easily see CW2 on the horizon but I have no great desire to accelerate the process ... but I don’t think the GOPe cares one way or the other.

-- First one I've seen where the majority of respondents actually expressed dismay at President Trump's actions. Some even calling them "sick". Is the worm turning? --

The last contentious issue similar to this, that I recall, was over GWB's nomination of Miers. The apparent pro/con lean of any given thread was unpredictable. Depended somewhat on which tribe was "on the thread" first.

Long story short, FR is not a reliable barometer for any relevant public sentiment.

Sessions initially backed Cruz on immigration. Sessions said Cruz had singlehandedly defeated amnesty. That was a false statement, but it was repeated millions of times by Cruz supporters.

I never understood why Sessions made such an easily debunked claim. He later retracted it.

I'm perfectly fine with Christie. He has no more effs to give. Perfect person to start investigating the deep state/Dems/Clinton.

Face it, Sessions wussed out and is of a bygone era of bipartisanship yada yada. We are so far past that now, there are irreconcilable differences with 1/2 the country. Things have to be hammered home.

So, you are saying Trump is a naive idiot? And you will cheer when Sessions is replaced by a megaRINO?
