This week, the Senate gave the public a fresh and powerful reason to view Twain as correct in his assessment.
Whatever your views on ObamaCare, the simple fact is that the GOP Senate voted to repeal ObamaCare in December 2015, knowing full well that President Obama would veto the bill.
That vote was conveniently timed to give Republican lawmakers the ability to go back to their states and proclaim that they had tried to repeal ObamaCare, but were thwarted by a Democratic president.
"Elect me, and give us a Republican in the White House, and we can finally get rid of this law," was the basic message to voters.
Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, for example, wrote multiple op-eds for her hometown papers decrying what ObamaCare had done to her state, and vowing to repeal it, in the run-up to her 2016 re-election.

I read somewhere with credibility macstain’s upstart foundation took cash from Soros or a Soros connected entity. How about starting there.
Don’t get me wrong..I’m all for an Article V convention. I just have to be realistic though. Politicians at the state level look to move to a national stage.
To accomplish this goal, they have to hob knob with U.S. Reps/Senators to get their names out there. They mention Article V, national party officials will see it as an afront to their power.
Scratch that name off the list.
