Pistol’s are illegal
Apostrophe^abuse!

That is an outrageous and blatant LIE! You do have a couple of hoops to go through, but you can purchase and keep a handgun in Canada.

It's such a difficult thing, too: Take a firearms safety course or be retired police or military with documentation in order to obtain a Possession and Acquisition Licence, join a shooting range, and ta-da, you can buy a pistol.

That sure doesn't sound like "No-how, no-way, never" to me.

Granted, there are some firearms not available here, eg pistols with barrels under 4", but there are tons of legal, available handguns in every city, province and territory.

Check these guys out. There is a link to their Canadian site on the link I posted.

As for the oilpatch, my stepson just bought his second house. He's a former rigpig that has gone into well servicing on his own. He doesn't seem to be suffering...
I'm very proud of the lad!

The article is nonsense.

“Canada’s economy grew at its fastest pace in nearly two decades in May, led by expansion in the oil and gas sector.

That’s according to the latest GDP data from Statistics Canada, released Friday, which shows a 7.6 per cent growth in oil and gas extraction.

“The big surprise was a massive 13 per cent snapback in ... oilsands, which alone accounted for half of the rise in GDP,” Bank of Montreal economist Doug Porter said.”

Then there is Saskatchewan.

As many as 2,600 wells are expected to be drilled in Saskatchewan this year — compared with 1,557 in 2016, 1,617 in 2015, and 3,638 in 2014. Sales of drilling rights on crown lands are on the upswing, with June’s offering attracting $22.8 million, the biggest response in three years.

Don, I don’t normally respond to name callers like you and thankfully the vast majority of freepers don’t do that. But, for this issue (guns in Canada), I will make an exception.

Below is a brief statement I cut and pasted off a website styled thoughtco.com. The article is headlined “Canadian Gun Laws Must Be Followed”.

........”Even when guns are declared and the proper forms are completed, Canadian border service officers require travelers to prove they have a valid reason for bringing a firearm into the nation”............

The fact remains that an American possessing a pistol in Canada is placing himself in some jeopardy.

I had two totally professional and impressive RCMP officers IN MY BOAT on the Yukon for about 30 minutes helping me with a mechanical issue. Without their help, I would have been stranded a hundred miles from help. We did get into a discussion of my guns laying around the boat and they “asked” if I had a pistol. I said “yes, many, but I left them all at home”. They both chuckled and said “that was smart”. I still shudder to think what “could have” happened if I had had my .500 S & W Magnum in the boat.

At my age, I am not interested in fighting the uber Liberal Canadian Government over it’s gun laws and I imagine there are many like me. Moreover, the idea of spending my vacation in a Canadian jail doesn’t excite me either.

Yes, but the bastards in the RCMP, who are frankly an organization high on power with virtually no accountability, continues to “reclassify” firearms to make them illegal.
