The German Economy Minister Brigitte Zypries on Monday slammed the latest round of US sanctions against Russia as being “against international law.”

The planned new US sanctions are set to hit German and European companies which have business interests in Russia.

“We see that as being against international law, plain and simple,” Zypries, of the Social Democrats (SPD), told the Funke Mediengruppe.

“The Americans can’t punish German companies because they have business interests in another country.”

The Economy Minister said that she did not want this to be the start of a trade war with the US, but emphasized that Germany had repeatedly asked Washington not to deviate from the common western sanctions policy against Russia. …

The irony of Congress starting trade wars with Europe in the era of Trump shouldn’t be lost on anyone. Funny enough if they actually followed Trump’s proposals instead their country may have actually had some benefits go along with the new dynamics

Frau Merkel is welcoming as many invading hordes as possible.

Sanctions against Russia is the least of Germany’s problems.

Oh the irony. Various members of Congress have slammed Trump for being nationalist, and America First, and “threatening” various trade agreements; now Congress is on the verge of starting a trade war with Germany and undoubtedly, the larger EU.

So, a bloated old Nazi in a pant suit is gonna tell the U.S. who we can and can't do business with? Merkel is a real comedienne.

But Germany sanctioning their own citizens when they object against the invading horde, that's okay?

Putin is laughing his a** off.

Congress is saying....well President Trump signed it...not us.

Of course everyone knows that Germany and the EU only upholds Russian sanctions they like. Hypocrits!

The EU is as much an enemy as ISIS.

Which is why I'm inclined to think the EU was involved in the dirty dossier, either instead of or along with Russia.

In Merkel’s defense, for the past 10 years she’s been telling Europe what to do. So giving orders to the U.S. was probably just an automatic reflex action on her part.

The difference here, of course, is that most of Europe (Western Europe, anyway) responds to Merkel orders with a hearty “Ja!”. She won’t be hearing that from Trump.

It is ironic. All these globalist free trade Senators crying about Trump starting a trade war and they do it in one swoop.

Merkel does not like that the U.S. sanctions are stronger and broader than the EU let Obama have. The Germans don’t like it shown that they are actually weak when it comes to sanctions on Russia. Why? They didn’t heed Ronald Reagan’s warning and got deeply into bed with Russia on fuels for energy. Russia can make winters in many western European countries down right miserable if they were to chose to.

Also, with one action Germany and the greater Europe is not being heard defending Russian against the United States. Brilliant Congress! Trump should veto this crap and keep his hands off this silly policy
