They are called Glory Trip missions. They plunk these dummy warheads down in the ocean outside of Kwaj to make sure they are accurate. I use to support these missions when I was over in the Marshall Islands working for the Army. Depending upon the mission, you have as many as three warheads screaming in over your head at about Mach 9. They were very impressive.

If you were there in February 1987 then you saw my three RVs impact. I was on one of the three Ops crews for Glory Trip GT120 GB.

Wouldn’t this be an ABM type missile?
Or are they just referring to deterrence?
