The UN Security Council is voting on new sanctions against North Korea.

The sanctions resolution has passed 15-0.
Unless the sanctions are a full economic embargo, to include no incoming or outgoing shipments of any kind, the sanctions are meaningless.
China will vote for it. And then violate it.
I’m surprised. Perhaps they know that we are serious.
It must be serious, because the diplomats are holding today’s hearing on a Saturday.
Gallery is mostly empty this afternoon, in spite of the fact this could well be the final sanctions resolution and the final chance for North Korea.
The Russian ambassador said ominously that sanctions pressure has now been “exhausted”.
Russia did not stop it? Amazing.
Because they know it means nothing.
You are so correct. Time for a military embargo. No shipments leave NK and none come in except food and medicine. This should be a very strict limitation. If Fat Boy Dear Eater attacks or declares war then shock and awe them so bad they won’t know what hit them.

Sorry, but I see no reason to provide food and medicine either. It isn’t like it actually reaches the citizens.
It hurts China and Russia more than North Korea. Russia has to get oil to Europe and China needs the money from manufacturing. In 6 months Trump has already put a stranglehold on both countries. And he didn’t even have to enact any legislation for it. He just removed some regulations on Americans.
Just imagine what he can do with a cooperative congress.
The UN: useless tits.
The “new sanctions” will hit most trade between North Korea and China, in coal and other natural resources.
Talk is cheap and voting for sanctions is not the same as actually following what is agree to, as the world discovered during 12 years of sanctions on Saddam Hussein. The sanctions regime leaked like a sieve and was even violated by European “allies” of ours.
If history is any guide, this U.N. sanctions vote may do no more than produce another bone of contention and argument between the U.S. and China, as the sanctions fail to be followed.
