Protesters ripped down a monument of a Confederate soldier Monday evening. The monument has stood in Durham County, NC since 1924.
WNCN reports:
A crowd of protesters gathered outside the old Durham County courthouse on Main Street Monday evening in opposition to a Confederate monument in front of the government building.
Around 7:10 p.m. a woman climbed the statue using a ladder and attached a rope around the statue.
Moments later, The crowd pulled on the rope and the statue fell.
In 1924, the Confederate statue was dedicated to Durham.
Engraved on the front of the monument is “The Confederate States of America.”
Above it, is a statue representing a soldier who fought in the civil war.
“It needs to be removed,” Loan Tran, an organizer, said earlier Monday. “These Confederate statues in Durham, in North Carolina, all across the country.”
There are similar monuments in several cities around North Carolina.

And now all their problems will be over!
If they want to destroy the symbols of a culture that kept slaves and fought against the USA, then they should also go shut down the Indian Reservations.

Anyhow, these monuments serve, to my my mind, as a reminder of who lost.
Eg, Hey, Bob, what’s that statue of?”
“Some guy who lost the Civil War”.
I’m fine with taking down confederate monuments, if they’re fine giving up Black History Month, and reparations. Until then, what’s the right going to do? Sit on their thumbs - again.

When is the outrage to tear down the pyramids? The Holocaust museums are still there in Poland.
Not sure how all of those southern Democrats are going to react to destruction of symbols of their heritage. As a person with Union heritage, I find it appalling that the left has decided that the things that many Southerners(Democrats as a heritage) have traditionally taken pride in, is no longer politically correct.
Wait for the feeding frenzy as they create their own, modern, civil war within the Democratic Party.
