North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has decided not to launch a threatened missile attack on Guam, Pyongyangs state media reported on Tuesday, but warned that he could change his mind if the Yankees persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions.
The report, published early Tuesday, could help dial back tensions that had spiraled last week following an exchange of threats between North Korea and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Mr. Trump warned Pyongyang last week that the U.S. military was locked and loaded and could engulf the North in fire and fury, while North Korea, through its state media, had threatened to fire four missiles in a bid to surround the U.S. territory of Guam in enveloping fire.
North Korean state media said in its report Tuesday that Mr. Kim had made his decision not to fire on Guam after visiting a military command post and examining a military plan presented to him by his senior officers.
While Mr. Kim said he had decided not to launch the attack on Guam yet, he advised the U.S. to take into full account whether the current standoff was to its benefit. He also said it was incumbent on the U.S. to stop at once arrogant provocations against the DPRK and unilateral demands and not provoke it any longer, using an abbreviation for the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, the formal name for North Korea.
If the Yankees persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions on the Korean Peninsula and in its vicinity, testing the self-restraint of the DPRK, the [North] will make an important decision as it already declared, the report quoted Mr. Kim as saying.
Mr. Kim added that the planned launch could still be carried out at any moment, and said that such a strike would be a most delightful historic moment that would wring the windpipes of the Yankees and point daggers at their necks.
More delaying.
Reminds me, I read once that the Unabomber was caught when his brother recognized the phrase “eat your cake and have it too” in the Unabomber’s manifesto published in the NY Times. It is the more literal “correct” ordering of the idea (that you can “eat” your cake and yet still have it later), and supposedly it was a characteristic saying of Ted Kaczynski, even though virtually everone else says “have your cake and eat it too.”
Kim isn’t that stupid. He just likes to see his name in the newspaper and his picture on TV.
Besides, he has a college degree, honorary, from HELP University, a private Malaysian university. But it has been reported he did attend a number of higher education facilities. So I know he learned about Custer.

Fat boy didn’t want another “fat boy” dropped on his palace. 3 generations of hereditary fascism is an impressive feat. But it’s going to end soon, just as it did in the middle east for Saddam and Qadaffi. Fat boy is on borrowed time, like Assad.

“Unlike in the past, we may have made NK back down without getting paid. Whether this would signal a true reversal of momentum remains to be seen. China would try hard to engineer a kind of temporary freeze and sell it as a success, demanding everybody to back down.”
_____________
I was saying this yesterday or the day before. When China announced that it would not support N. Korea if it started a war the jig was up. It means that N. Korea can no longer extort money for threatening its neighbors.
This is a huge win for Trump’s foreign policy team. He has completely changed the nature of the game. He isn’t “kicking the can down the road” He picked up the can and said, “I’m not gonna play.”
I guess he finally realized standing all your generals up in front of artillery firing squads and replacing them with yes men gives you zero chance of winning a war, not that he had a chance anyway.
Kim knows if they launched anything it would be the end of their regime!
Not even their Masters China can compete with the U.S.
Not even China & Russia can compete
That missile launch would mean the of North Korea
Ever see "The Mouse That Roared"?
Bingo!
You nailed it on the head!
I don’t think so!
Even if I hope so!
Yep. I suspected that too.
Can’t let a good President actually make good decisions and provide REAL leadership
I guess the American generals showed the nkorean delegates a film about nukes and it convinced them that their version 0.1 (10kt) nukes are nowhere near our latest version (though dated at 1988) B83 warheads rated at 1.2 megatons. Plus we got thousands of them in stockpiles.
You can stab your own hand that way. Not one of your better ideas.
So reckless, so effective. Reckless like a fox.
From Viet Nam era, Basic Training on the M-14, I remember this phrase from the firing range tower, so many times:
“Ready on the Right;
Ready on the left;
Ready on the firing line.
On the firing line, which is no longer clear,
Lock one magazine, eight rounds,
Load!
Commence firing!”
“LOCK one magazine, eight rounds, LOAD”
I took that to be a kind of origin for the phrase, “Lock and Load!”
Here and now, I am getting all kinds of alternate origins.
That’s what I think.
The M1 Garand. Lock open the bolt.....then load
