On Tuesday, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has called for the removal of a statue of Justice Roger B. Taney from the grounds of the State House.

This guy wasn't even a Confederate, he simply made a Supreme Court ruling that people in 2017 don't like.

Based in the Taney Court decision people in 1864 didnt “ like” what the Constitution said or didnt say, so they amended the Constitution

Thats how a democratic republic operates

Gee if Taney ( a democrat) had legislated Dred-Scott from the bench and the Court had accepted Dred’s lawsuit, would we even have had a civil war and abolished slavery outright? Would Lincoln have become President?

The decision was enormously - maybe more - unpopular in 1857 too. It was a breathtaking exercise of judicial activism, dramatically limiting the ability of states to pass their own laws regarding slavery by declaring - in openly racist and unconstitutional language that black people were an inferior race and couldn’t be citizens - even though there was zero legal basis for that decision.
