Not affiliated with the site. Just noting how the Bush family is about to do to The Alamo what Antifa is doing to Confederate statues. What a travesty.

Time to get serious about all this “protesting” (rioting). Show you’ve got some cotton balls and stop buying everything made of cotton. Cotton started all this “rasis” bullsh*t to begin with.

I visited the Alamo and the San Jacinto Battlefield last summer. I don’t live in Texas, but these 2 sites need to be treated with reverence and preserved as they are, i.e., NO ENHANCEMENTS.

I think what impressed me the most was the knife used by Davy Crockett after he ran out of ammunition during the Battle of the Alamo. The knife looks like the paring knife my wife used to peel potatoes.

Any attempt to reimage either site should be met with as much resistance as Texans can be mustered.

I was wondering when the Camino Real/mission trail would be destroyed.

Given the fact that both Bush 1 and 2 have come out publicly in support of violent leftists who wear black uniforms, masks, and carry baseball bats to assault those with whom the disagree, it is not surprising that they want to also destroy the Alamo.

So I looked at the “master plan” video linked at the bottom of the site. The promenade creates a long perspective focused entirely on the Alamo and restores the south entrance used for hundreds of years. It excavates the original cells and rooms and makes them visible on a walking tour. It’s moves all trinkety and tourist trappy shops further away from the Alamo leaving the space free for history and remembrance. It places the cenotaph for the dead at the actual site of the battle.

All of this seems good to me.

The clear walls are an aesthetic choice that some will not like but I think it’s nice that the view of the Alamo and its central vanishing point wont be obscured by an opaque wall.

Everything liberals touch becomes something unrecognizable.
The Texicans and their allies in the Mission called it the Alamo. They gave their all defending freedom and the Alamo.
Leave the Alamo, the Alamo.

Here’s part of the reason. It’s the letter from inside the Alamo sent by Colonel Travis to General Sam Houston...and the world. It’s sacred, hallowed ground. Not a history project.

“Commandancy of the Alamo
Bejar, Feby. 24, 1836
To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World

Fellow citizens & compatriots

I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna I have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily & will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country VICTORY OR DEATH.

William Barret Travis,

Lt. Col. comdt.
P.S. The Lord is on our side. When the enemy appeared in sight we had not three bushels of corn. We have since found in deserted houses 80 or 90 bushels and got into the walls 20 or 30 head of Beeves. Travis

I’m not seeing anyone explain why this is a “horrible and disrespectful” plan. Ever since the city encroached on the Alamo, city streets and buildings go through the original courtyard. You can drive over where Bowie and Crockett died.

What’s wrong with restoring the original space of the Alamo?

Your message might be somewhat more effective if you actually described what it is Bush wants to do to the Alamo.

Instead the Alamo would be transformed into a multi-cultural hodgepodge of world history.

Remember The Alamo!

Commandancy of the The Alamo

Bejar, Feby. 24th. 1836

To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World-

Fellow Citizens & compatriots-

I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna - I have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man - The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken - I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls - I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch - The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily & will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country - Victory or Death.

“... Texas General Land Office Comissioner George P. Bush, who is in charge of ruining the Alamo...”

There was a misspelling in the article. I think it was meant to read as above.

Each mission was supported by farms and ranches. An ingenious irrigation system, the acequias – originally a Moorish invention adopted by the Spanish and imported into the New World, diverted water from the San Antonio River to each of the missions and their agricultural fields, allowing each compound to be a self – sustaining unit.

Speechless

Note that the linked article at “savethe alamo.us” doesn’t very accurately or rather, not accurately at all, describe the proposed master plan.

You really need to read the actual proposed plan before you get too excited.
THEN if you don’t like it, fair enough, but read the REAL plan first.
