Six Flags Over Texas removes Confederate flag, reversing earlier decision

Six Flags Over Texas will remove the Confederate States of America flag from its lineup, and fly only U.S. flags, the company told mySA.com Friday morning following backlash earlier this week.

~snip~

The company flipped its decision Friday morning saying they strive to "make people happy and to create a fun, thrilling and safe family friendly experience for our guests."
"We always choose to focus on celebrating the things that unite us versus those that divide us. As such, we have changed the flag displays in our parks to feature American flags," the park said in a statement.

From the coming together in the Spanish American war, one of the things which united us, was a revival of mutual respect. From that revival in 1898 until the election of Clinton, patriotic gatherings in America generally featured music from both the Union & Confederate sides. We played both the Battle Hymn of the Republic & Dixie, side by side. Patriotic speakers, talked with approbation of both the "Blue & the Grey."

Duty, Honor, Country

Now, for the past quarter of a century, those who preach hatred of our common traditions, have been hell-bent (the appropriate terms) to again divide us. Like the fanatics who in the past sought to silence any dissent--any questioning of their dogma, the faux apostles of a "new" America, seek to suppress any facet of our loyalty to the American heritage, in favor of something our founders would have considered totally wrong--evil incarnate.

A Compulsion For Uniformity

The irony is they are caving to people who never go there....and pissing of the very people who do go there.

Not to mention Texas as a separate nation. I was hoping for that one.

The six flags that have flown over the state of Texas have been a staple at the Six Flags Over Texas Amusement Park since it opened in 1961. Now, the park will remove the Confederate flag along with the flags of France, Spain, Mexico and the Republic of Texas, and the park will display six American flags.

I doubt Ten % of the people who go there knew what the “six flags” meant. To the idiots there are still six flags.

So, by erasing the Confederacy they also erased Mexico and Spain and .

Wonder how long it will be until they decide to add the rainbow flag so they can go back to having 6 flags?

There was a short-lived Six Flags park in New Orleans, too - the company bought the failed "Jazzland" park (presumably with lots of encouragement from the city council). Katrina killed it dead. I still don't know what that company's "suits" were thinking.

I wonder if the Six Flags park near Atlanta has similarly scrubbed the Confederate flag? I remember going there with my parents back when there was actually a Confederate-themed portion of the park. That later became "Peachtree Square", I believe. Still had the Confederate flag, though.

Even the "Eight Flags" display on the Mississippi coast still has a Confederate flag (the First National flag, not the CBF).

I guess Disney will soon be retooling "The American Adventure" at Epcot to remove the offensive Civil War segment...

"Six Flags Over Texas will remove the Confederate States of America flag from its lineup, and fly only U.S. flags"

Without the Spanish, French, Mexican and Texas (when it was a separation nation) flags, they are down to:

Yesterday.

I wonder what's next.
Are the leftist commies going to demand that the 11 states that were the CSA be kicked out of the Union?
