Most black Americans do not think Confederate statues should be removed because they are offensive, a Marist poll released Thursday found. Forty-four percent of African Americans believe the Confederate statues should stay in place, while 11 percent said they’re unsure. The remaining 40 percent of African Americans polled said the statues should be removed. Those surveyed were asked whether statues “honoring leaders of the Confederacy” should “remain as a historical symbol” or “be removed because they are offensive to some people,” or whether the respondent is unsure. NPR and PBS News Hour conducted the Marist poll Monday and Tuesday, following a weekend of violent protests sparked by the subject in Charlottesville, Va. Latin Americans who participated overwhelmingly believe that Confederate monuments should stay in place — 65 percent said they should remain. Twenty-four percent said they should come down, while 11 percent said they weren’t sure.
White Americans also overwhelmingly supported keeping up Confederate monuments– 65 percent said they should stay, while 25 percent said they should be taken down. Eight percent said they weren’t sure if they should stay up or not. Most Republicans, Independents and those who identified as “soft” Democrats said the statues should stay. Fifty-seven percent of those identified as “strong” Democrats said the statues should be removed. Lawmakers and city officials are calling for the removal of Confederate statues, particularly in light of the Charlottesville riots, where white supremacists gathered in part to protest the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee. Baltimore city workers removed four Confederate statues late Tuesday night. The Congressional Black Caucus has also proposed the removal of the statues from the U.S. Capitol Building. “We will never solve America’s race problem if we continue to honor traitors who fought against the United States in order to keep African Americans in chains. By the way, thank god, they lost,” CBC Chairman Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-Louisiana, said to ABC News in a Monday statement.

I suspect most black Americans are smart enough to know that you are 100% correct, and mature enough to know that you’d have to be a special kind of misfit to even care all that much about memorials for Confederate historical figures who died more than a century ago.

but when ‘majority rules’ works against them, then it’s back to ‘one voice’ should be more important than the majority.
It all boils down to being about power. Liberalism is all about power. They have not been in power since the election and it’s driving them crazy. So, they will grab and exert as much as they can steal at every opportunity.
White liberal elites use the black community to express ‘elite hatred’ for conservatives. That way we’re not mad at the white liberal elites - we’re mad at the black community.

The Entire Left is getting nuttier, each and every day, but way too many non-Leftists, also, continue to not take full political advantage of this. And, too many within the entire GOP continue to be foolish as well as continue to practice RINO Republicanism and Anti-Trump Republicanism, instead of practicing mature, decent Conservative Republicanism, on all issues! Right now, conservatives should be taking full advantage of ALL of the ongoing problems that the Left is having, ever since Donald Trump won the race for POTUS!
Those sculptures are the artistic renderings of the emotions, beliefs and memories of the people of their time. Like all art they record history and help future generations understand their fore bearers and how they came about. Will the Left next go into museums and libraries and destroy other sculptures, paintings and books that offend modern sensibilities. Actually if they could the Left would destroy as much American culture as they could to achieve their goals.
Is AuntieFaye going to hunt down the Negro members of the Sons of the Confederacy? My father-in-law was a member in two different chapters one at a time and there was a Negro in one and the treasurer in the other was a Negro, both having had Negro ancestors who fought for the Confederacy.

Majority rules only works for things that the liberals have the majority support on.
If they don’t get a majority, such as on homosexual marriage, then they go to court, claim it’s a civil rights issue that we shouldn’t vote on in the first place, and then they get their way in court.
Review the history of votes on marriage. 32 states including liberal California voted to keep the traditional definition of marriage. The liberals went to court to overturn them, saying that since homosexual marriage is a civil right, and we don’t vote on people’s civil rights, all those elections were null and void.
The way homosexual marriage was imposed on all of us could well be the template by which other things get imposed on us.
I’m one of them. As if my life could be negatively affected by a statue. Absurd. Keep ‘me up!

The left isn’t mad about the monuments. They’re mad because not everybody agrees with them on the subject.
