I’m sorry. Sounds like you’re in for a rough week.
I’d get some real good tape, like gorilla or duct tape, and tape up all the openings on your truck. Remove the dipsticks and tape shut the engine dipstick tube, trans dipstick tube, differential vents, the air intake (pull the rubber snout off and tape up the butterfly opening). Tape the end of the tailpipe.
Tape all around the door edges.
Radar showing several bands of very heavy rainfall in the metro Houston region, the worst of them appears to be running from Pearland to League City into eastern parts of Houston and amounts of 10” in two hours have been reported with that. Other heavy bands are feeding in from the south across western portions of the region, and a more confined band west of downtown. There are some pockets where rain is much lighter, and the bands are almost stationary adding to the totals they are dropping.
There are some areas of heavy rain left with the core of Harvey but the main action now seems to be more connected to feeder bands coming off the Gulf. The core of the storm is almost dead now southeast of Austin. But what’s left of it seems destined to loop around erratically for almost a week, in various parts of eastern TX. There is less chance of a return to the Gulf although that can’t be ruled out.
I had military choppers landing in my neighborhood tonight, evacuating people.
The bayou came 7 or 8 blocks all the way to my street and then stopped rising. No way in or out of my area except boat and copter.
a large ladder fire truck got stuck on my street for a while.
