Sanders: It's 'pretty dumb' not to ask about climate change after Harvey
CNN ^ | August 31, 2017 | by Sophie Tatum

Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders said Thursday that the unprecedented rainfall and resulting flooding from Hurricane Harvey should spark a discussion about climate change.

"I think it is pretty dumb not to ask some hard questions about why more rain is now falling, and has fallen in the Houston area, as I understand it, than any time that people can have measured," Sanders told CNN's Chris Cuomo.

The first priority in responding to Harvey's devastation should be saving lives and ensuring people affected have adequate and safe housing, Sanders said, but he added that the issue of climate change should also be addressed.

Some areas of Texas saw almost 52 inches of rain, and the full scope of destruction from the storm is still unknown.

"Is it related to climate change? Is some of the intensity and the magnitude of this related to Climate change? I think most scientists believe it is," Sanders said. "The right question to be asking is 'what does this mean for the future?'"

Sure, and Hillary didn’t push the exact same propaganda after Katrina, did she Burn-ie? Mr. USSR acts like everyone in the USA has active memory holes.

So, then, what would the climate scientologists suggest?

The Gulf apparently is unseasonably warm.

Drop thousands of tons of ice cubes into the Gulf?

Hook ice chunks that have broken off of Antarctica and haul them to the Gulf?

Create and run a giant mixer-like apparatus to churn the water in the Gulf and maybe cool it a degree or two?

That’s right Bernie, you’re pretty dumb.

The water content of Harvey wasn’t any greater than any other major hurricane to hit the US. The only reason the rainfall amounts were historic is because the system stalled for five days.

Whenever global-warming skeptics cite a cold spell or heavy snowstorm as evidence against global warming, they are told that no specific weather event proves anything. But when the tables are turned . . .

“I think it is pretty dumb not to ask some hard questions about why more rain is now falling, and has fallen in the Houston area, as I understand it, than any time that people can have measured,” Sanders told CNN’s Chris Cuomo.”

We've only been measuring rain for about 150 years, if that. 10,000 years ago, the place I'm sitting was buried under hundreds of feet of ice. Three million years before that, it was sub-tropical. Thirty million years before that, it was 200 miles out in the Pacific Ocean, which then extend to what is now Idaho.

Yes, I believe in radical climate change and geological upheaval, which is why I am reluctant to interpret every major weather event as something unprecedented or as driven by human-generated CO2.

Ok Bernie, I have a soapbox waiting for you to discuss "climate change", right in the middle of the George R. Brown convention center (where 10K evacuees now call home).

Please tell everyone there that this disaster is all their fault ...
