Why Congress Will Decide Dreamers' Fate
Time Magazine ^ | September 3, 2017 | Zeke J. Miller

President Trump's announcement that he will rescind an Obama-era executive action providing legal protection to people brought to the U.S. as children has all the appearances of a final decision.

But it's actually just an opening bid.

By including a six-month delay before the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program, Trump gave Congress a narrow but achievable window to spare the Dreamers.

There are signs that Republicans in Congress may want to prevent the deportation of nearly 800,000 individuals who have taken advantage of the program to get drivers licenses, go to college and launch careers.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and other leading Republicans publicly urged the White House to maintain the program, and Trump said in the past that he would find some accommodation for Dreamers.

“We’re going to work something out that’s going to make people happy and proud,” he told TIME in 2016.

The fate of the program had been the subject of intense internal debate at the White House in recent months, with Attorney General Jeff Sessions arguing it was not legally justified. A White House official indicated that view prevailed, saying that while Trump agrees with the program's outcome, he objects to the way it was done....

Why Congress Will Decide Dreamers' Fate

Only if the House and Senate muster a two-thirds veto-proof bill.

At Breitbart Just Now Kinda:

“Politico: Donald Trump Will Close DACA Amnesty”

Go to Breitbart.com. It’s unofficial. But it appears a done deal.

And I apologize...I don’t know how to or the rules about linking to the actual story.

Not gonna make many folks happy. The big problem is that the government gave tacit, and often overt, approval and those under DACA did not commit the crimes. Kind of like having a fruit stand and allowing a class of people to take free fruit for 25 years, then deciding to charge their kids with theft.....

Congress created the DACA problem through its own inaction, abrogation of duty, obsequiousness and willing servility to their demi-god Obama.

They let Obama usurp their constitutional responsibility and authority.
Now many in congress are whining about the possibility of President Trump making an attempt to clean up their mess.

The president is in a difficult position through no fault of his own.

If he doesn’t kill DACA he upsets many in his base.

If he does kill DACA he will be hammered unmercifully by the leftists and have another court battle on his hands.
Another battle he will have to fight with a near-worthless Attorney General.

President Trump should just go public and state that Congress allowed this unconstitutional policy to go forward so he is referring the issue back to congress for them to solve legislatively.

The President needs to end the 2012 program immediately and then give the six months for he or Congress to decide what to do with those who have been on the program, and those who moved over to the other hidden program which granted a pathway to citizenship - get them all with one decision.

Right.

Tip O’Neil doublecrossed President Reagan. And the situation got progressively worse from there, as we all know only too well.

This is the source with my apprehension of negotiating with the left (the ‘art of the deal’) - impossible to negotiate in good faith with a group of liars and scoundrels.

No. It is more like a guy robs a bank, gives the money to his kids, gets arrested and claims the money cannot be returned because "he gave it to his kids".

Glad I could help you.

President Trump is going to get rid of an illegal policy. But he is not going to hunt them.

His first goal is and remains to get rid of the troublemakers, end sanctuary cities and stop the border jumping.

Border jumpers are way down.

Portions of the wall are in the making.

One step at a time....reassess. Repeat as necessary.

There are no credible Republicans

Has there ever before been, in recorded World History, a political entity that was given total power to implement their agenda yet refused to govern?

Hey Ryano, I am proud when the US Gov enforces immigration laws and deports illegals.
