Your neighbors are right. Charley was...intense. But it wasn’t a large hurricane and it didn’t linger. What lingered was the 10 days without power in 90-plus degree humidity! But, we got by, had neighborhood cookouts and helped each other. Since that summer (3 hurricanes) my appreciation for ice and a/c has been deep!

What is this season’s chocolate of choice? My hope is the wind pattern out of the ENE over the Florida channel changes by Friday. It looks to me to be a stronger Katrina, that popped over Florida before exploding. I’m no expert. My prayers are for it to unexpectedly become a fish storm.

and tropical systems aren’t like thunderstorms in the plains over land.all other things equal they actually strengthen at night .....this period is known as DMAX

Honestly though, the least amount of damage is going to be if the storm takes a sudden turn north before it gets to FL and goes up the east coast.
That way everything will be on the left side of the storm, the *better* side to be on, and cutting off half it’s fuel as it moves up the coast will weaken it as fast as possible.
