Haven’t they been making changes to the rules, to make the game safer? Haven’t they banned certain types of blocking and physical contacts to try to avoid some injuries?

Weren’t they working on safer helmets?

I don’t really follow football, but I thought the NFL was trying to make the game safer, due to these concerns.

Hilarious! If I may extend...

Both coaches pregame: “we aren’t going to take therm for granted. They are a great team that has to be respected.”

At half:

Losing coach: “we have to start taking take care of the ball, get first downs and capitalize on scoring and defensive opportunities.”

Winning Coach: “We can’t get overconfident. They are a great team that has to be respected.”

OK, now you don’t have to hear somewhat hot, if aging, chicks ask and answer the same platitudes.

It is a reason.

Another reason is "college football" where the players can be seriously injured and the attitude is "too bad, so sad, we are yanking your scholarship".

But the main reason is the the NFL could not decide if it should enforce it's rules or not so they went to "selective enforcement".

I hate anti-American crybabies. But I really loath wishy-washy, mealymouthed Caspar Milquetoast types.

Stand up for what you believe. I may agree, I may disagree but take a stand!

There’s some idiot who interviews the key player after the Sunday MLB game. His favorite question? “What are you going to eat back in the clubhouse?” They never know what is in the clubhouse, and they never care about the question, but he keeps asking. Bryce Harper didn’t even bother to hide his disgust and ripped the headphones off the second he could.

It’s as bad as the woman on the sidelines who, during the Dennis Miller era, was asking, “What is the most recent book you’ve read?” She asked this on camera while play was proceeding. But, the ESPN guy proves bimbos come in both genders.

That is correct. Scumbags like Colin Kapernick make me not want to watch NFL football anymore. Add to that the fact that Tom Brady - quarterback of the New England Patriots - put a MAGA cap in his locker a year ago and was ostracized as a result.

I know Tom Brady loves Donald Trump and wants to make America Great Again. But he is unable to say so for fear of being kicked out of the NFL.

I'm glad he won the Super Bowl last year and all (his 5th) but the NFL is too politically correct for my tastes and as a result, I'm going to spend most of football season reading literature and hiking in the woods with a dog instead of watching the games.

Funny that George Will did not mention Colin Kaepernick. Maybe George just ran out of space.

Yup. Will is taking a break from Trump bashing. I almost never read his drivel anymore.

I do think brain injury is a serious issue but it offers nearly no explanation as to why fewer Americans are watching the NFL of late. Has anyone said, "Yeah, I love my team but I can't stand to watch them damaging their brains"? If anyone has I haven't heard it. (And I actually have heard that said about boxing).

I have heard a very great deal about the outrage over the flag protests, mostly a quiet outrage that doesn't result in public display of passion but sure as hell does result in people finding something else to do with the time. Those aren't people who come back, either.

It's an issue the media won't talk about. That doesn't mean it isn't an issue.

Per USAToday:

When you think of prep sports concussions, you almost certainly think of football first. Yet a new study shows that football barely has the second-highest per capita rate of concussions and traumatic brain injuries among all health setbacks in a specific high school sports. The top number? Girls soccer, by a significant amount.

You mean, you don't know? They've been suiting up in these for a couple of years now:

Will, lawn jockey for the DNC, is out there doing his best to cover for the political activists who have been excluded from the scorn of the left for making too much money only so long as they stayed on liberal message. When people like Robert Kraft and Bill Belichik shoot holes in their perfect liberal teachings, everyone must suffer. Now players are the new endangered polar bears.

How do you know CTE is not the reason? This a very serious condition and have read as much as I can on the subject as I have a friend who is suffering with all the symptoms and is in the NFL pool. He hasn’t played in forty years and has only been showing the symptoms the past six years, at least that is when family and friends realized something was wrong. To say CTE is not the reason is untrue. It may or may not, no one will know for certain until after death.

The real reason is the reason that dare not be mentioned.

Then the NFL isn't the only professional sports league that will experience dwindling interest.
