The University of Utah Hospital, where a nurse was manhandled and arrested by police as she protected the legal rights of a patient, has imposed new restrictions on law enforcement, including barring officers from patient-care areas and from direct contact with nurses.

Margaret Pearce, chief nursing officer for the University of Utah hospital system, said she was “appalled” by the obfficer’s actions and has already implemented changes in hospital protocol to avoid any repetition.

She said police will no longer be permitted in patient-care areas, such as the burn unit where Wubbels was the charge nurse on the day of the incident and from emergency rooms.

In addition, officers will have to deal with “house supervisors” instead of nurses when they have a request.

Many of the assautive pts are on psychotropic drugs like meth or pcp..or deranged by disease ....it takes 4 or 5 to handle...sometimes pts are handcuffed or shackled to bed...and if they got blood borne inections...aids...hep b....hepc...you dont want to get bloodied by them.. ...Code Grey= assaultive person, gets called very often in the er....it shouldnt by MMA traing ground. why couldnt they institute an on call judge to issue warrants..arent they public servants too? Response by hospital just as unreasonable as police officer. Get on call judge for these things....case closed.

She resisted arrest which is itself a crime.

She was enforcing the law. Pig was annoyed because he wanted to break the law. So, he arrested her.

It might be over reacting but it has the desired effect. It likely otherwise would have been brushed off. This will cause them to think on it much longer. Good move by the hospital. Very good move.

Texas law allows a citizen to resist an illegal arrest by any means necessary up to and including deadly force.

Seriously? Texas is a cool place.
