Local radio is advertising a holiday week in Huatulco in January.
Wonder how this vacation area fared...?

Even though they are Mexicans, I still send my prayers their way.

I would be in Merida MX, about as far from the vacation beaches as is possible to get, about as close to the middle of the jungles (and heat-humidity-mosquitoes-daily rain storms) as is possible to get.

It’s complex down there. Will be working in mid-Yucatan in a few weeks.

Yucatan?? Better be on the lookout for huge asteroids!

We used to vacation at Ixtapa back when we lived in Minnesota. Board the airplane at 15 below zero. Three hours later, 85 degrees warm.

We visited Huatulco when there was just one hotel on the beach. Good food. Clean beach but nothing to do otherwise, so we asked the hotel mgr for suggestions.
He got us on a spotless Air Liberdat DC-3 and flew us to Oaxaca city. Very neat, old historic city.

We just missed the Oaxaca radish festival...

We used to love Mexico and went twice a year. Have been all over both coasts. Like you I loved getting on a plane in November when it was kind of cold here and getting off in a tropical paradise. Then it started getting bad and we stopped going.
We have a Mexican friend from a small town in Michoacán. He is finally selling his restaurant and retiring. Said he is going to spend some time in his huge house there and threw out the welcome mat for us. We may go for awhile. He’s kind of a big wig there and we’d be safe.

Seems so. The Enemedia keeps trying to blow life back into it but it still fades. Even Don Jr.’s testimony was a nothing burger story and died a quick death. That said I expect Mueller will pop up with something to garner attention soon. Fortunately the country has real problems that need attention now and most are very tired of hyped up BS..

I have a business chum in Puebla who is well known in the community and has invited us down for a week or two. He and his wife have a vacation house in Puerto Vallarta that looks very cool.
Oaxaca city’s main hotel “the El Presidente,” featured a large map behind the greeting and sign in desk. It showed early Mexico before Texas, California, Colorado became part of the US.
One of the neat events we saw was the Friday night dating ritual for teenagers. While adults looked on from an open air restaurant, the boys would walk around the plaza counter-clockwise while the ladies walked clockwise. Every few minutes, one of the girls would run over to her boyfriend and hand him a note. Ditto one of the boys.
Very old Spanish tradition...

Liberals are blaming this earthquake on "climate change" and tweeting pictures like this. "Climate change" is now the official cause of everything bad, it's the atheist version of the devil or something.

‘Then it started getting bad and we stopped going.’

Lawlessness?

Racism?
