Texans pay the same federal tax as anyone else. So I’m not sure what is his point.
They don’t pay state income tax, but their property taxes are higher to compensate. So, again, what is his point?
Texas generally pays in more to the feds than it gets back in federal spending. Texas has been one of the donor states the past few years so what he is saying makes no sense any way you look at it. That may change going forward once the Harvey spending is figured in.
