No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote.

“Read the bill in Congress, which is what they are talking about passing—only some felonies would disqualify a very expanded definition of DACA illegals.”

Seems reasonable. The unproductive and criminal would not qualify. And this bill hasn’t passed yet.

Quotes from bill below;

(iii) has not been convicted of—

(I) any offense under Federal or State law, other than a State offense for which an essential element is the alien’s immigration status, that is punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of more than 1 year; or

(7) BACKGROUND CHECKS.—

(A) REQUIREMENT FOR BACKGROUND CHECKS.—The Secretary shall utilize biometric, biographic, and other data that the Secretary determines appropriate—

(i) to conduct security and law enforcement background checks of an alien seeking permanent resident status on a conditional basis under this section; and

(ii) to determine whether there is any criminal, national security, or other factor that would render the alien ineligible for such status.

(a) Eligibility for removal of conditional basis.—

(1) IN GENERAL.—Subject to paragraph (2), the Secretary shall remove the conditional basis of an alien’s permanent resident status granted under this Act and grant the alien status as an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence if the alien—

(A) is described in paragraph (1)(C) of section 3(b), subject to paragraphs (2) and (3) of that section;

(B) has not abandoned the alien’s residence in the United States; and

(C) (i) has acquired a degree from an institution of higher education or has completed at least 2 years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor’s degree or higher degree in the United States;

(ii) has served in the Uniformed Services for at least 2 years and, if discharged, received an honorable discharge; or

(iii) has been employed for periods totaling at least 3 years and at least 75 percent of the time that the alien has had a valid employment authorization, except that any period during which the alien is not employed while having a valid employment authorization and is enrolled in an institution of higher education, a secondary school, or an education program described in section 3(b)(1)(D)(iii), shall not count toward the time requirements under this clause.

(II) 3 or more offenses under Federal or State law, other than State offenses for which an essential element is the alien’s immigration status, for which the alien was convicted on different dates for each of the 3 offenses and imprisoned for an aggregate of 90 days or more; and

I would be willing to give DREAMERS CITIZENSHIP but they cannot vote

That doesn't pass constitutional muster. You can't create a restricted class of citizenship.

Allows some convicted felons and many more than Obama’s original DACA. It is a grotesque amnesty! And Trump is giving it up without getting e-verify, the RAISE act, and full funding for the wall and ICE staffing expansion.

Trump hasn’t given anything up yet. You talk as if the bill is already law. Do you seriously think democrats are going to vote for a republican bill?

No deal last night? What a lie. Look at Trump’s tweets this morning. The deal is done, amnesty for all, no wall, and we got sold out by Trump.

The Democrats will all vote for it—it was jointly introduced by Graham and Durbin, and plenty of Republicans too, as both their speaker and president are backing it.

Are you a paid shill—or just obtuse?

“Massive Border Security” means massive amounts of words and eye-wash about “vetting” and “boots on the ground”, with some phrasing about “high tech drones” and “virtual fences” thrown in for good measure.

In the real world, however, the only thing massive, should New York Donny’s Amnesty happen, will be the net increase in third world migration into our homeland.

As for the missing word “Wall” - perhaps one could be made with discarded “MAGA” hats. They’ve got to be good for something.

The only question about this deal is how long will Barack and Donny will hug at the signing ceremony.

Sickening.

Any border security that isn’t a wall is only temporary.

I got news, a wall is temporary, too. First rule of defensive obstacles is that they're useless without overwatch. If this POTUS or future ones decide not to enforce real border security anymore (i.e. Border Patrol actually on the ground), then it's just a thing to tunnel under or climb over or even knock down.

I’m not a perfectionist. A cat and mouse game of plugging tunnels or patching holes will still reduce the influx precipitously, which is manageable. It’s certainly a lot easier than border-crossers traversing an unmanned open range, wouldn’t you say?

Sure, but I have no faith in our government to maintain security along a wall. Cities/states making life impossible for illegals would be far more permanent and effective. Of course, those local governments are just as corrupt as our FedGov, so I guess we’re just solidly screwed in the long run.

Heavens to Betsy. When will Republican Presidents learn? This is the oldest trick in the demonicRATS playbook.

Attend a private meeting with the Republican President and then announce some sort of deal has been struck.

DemonicRATS are known liars. Why should anyone believe a word they say?

New applications for DACA ended on Sep 5, 2017. No new dreamers.

It is true that we’re all screwed, but I don’t even think it’ll get to that.

GOP leadership doesn’t want a wall. Their donors don’t want it, and their calculation that they will abandon them before their voters will since the alternative is unbridled marxism from the Democrats. Big business can work within that paradigm - rank and file cannot.

Democrats will never agree to it because replacing white people with 3rd world immigrants and naturalized aliens is their only future. We might as well demand that they agree to stop using oxygen - it’ll never happen.

Of course they will vote for it—overwhelmingly so.

No need to bet—it is obvious to any even vaguely keen or astute observer.

My only hope is that the backlash is so severe that Trump backs out. But there’s probably less than a 1% chance of that either.
