Where Would Trump Be If He Had Run as What He Is: the Amnesty Candidate?
PJ Media ^ | 09/14/2017 | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 09/14/2017 8:19:40 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

One of the great ironies of the 2016 campaign is that Donald Trump, who has run as the immigration scourge, is actually the amnesty candidate.

Trump has expressly vowed to give legal status to millions of illegal aliens. For any other candidate, such a promise would have been the campaign death knell. To compare, John Kasich -- who is openly pro-amnesty -- has lost 38 of 39 primaries (the sole exception being his own state) and has never been a plausible contestant. When it comes to Trump, however, it seems that the all-important amnesty fine-print of his immigration position has been overlooked. This is no doubt due to his consciously controversial rhetoric: his fixation about building a wall on the Mexican border, his oft-repeated commitment to mass-deportation of illegal aliens, his disparaging comments about Mexicans, and his proposed moratorium on Muslim immigration.

Yet, Trump is the amnesty candidate. What’s more, the amnesty component of his immigration plan is the only part that has a realistic chance of happening.

Trump is not going to build his wall, much less make Mexico pay for it, as he has insisted our southern neighbor will do. Quite apart from the fact that much of the border is not suitable terrain for wall construction, his wall would be astronomically more expensive to build than he has estimated, and in any event, Democrats and many Republicans in Congress would block funding for it. (To be clear: I favor construction of walls and/or fencing where practical; but a wall is only one component, and not nearly the most critical one, of what must be a multi-faceted strategy if we are to be serious about border security.)

Trump’s categorical moratorium on Muslim immigration would also be rejected.

OH! I get it! It would have been better if Clintoon was elected right?

Are you a complete idiot? Just because he is better than Clinton is not a very high bar, he was elected to save the Republic from the foreign invasion that has taken place over the last 50 years.

I actually read this article as them wanting Trump to stick to his campaign promises.

Ten they're going after the wrong guy - if Ryan/McConnell and the rest of the GOPe RINOs would do what THEY promised, much would be getting done. McConnell is worse than Ryan - keeping the 60 vote deal for much that could be done w/o the Dems and has 260 or so Bills the House sent waiting and unaddressed in his do-nothing Senate.

Nobody with a brain thought they would ever actually deport the "Dreamers" who grew up here and know nothing else - even the RINOs use that as their own leverage to try to rein Trump's agenda in to something they want as their efforts to maintain the status quo.

Those who attack Trump for "dealing with the Dems" are blowing smoke up their own asses and making it even tougher for him to get it done.

Right, if they enforced all of those laws half of the farmers in the western half of the united states and many in the other half would be in prison.

This has been the main problem for many years. many of the legal and maybe illegal comes up here and gets free living for their wife and kids while they work and save every dollar they make, stop the welfare and that will stop many from coming here.

But if they stop the welfare then the trash that lives here legal white or Mexican would have to go to work, what a shame.

Don’t we ever get over the notion that we should be happy because it could have been worse? We could be happy if it actually got better too couldn’t we?

If all of the complainers would have voted for Trump he would have won by a landslid then he could have gotten a lot more done a lot faster, it would be better and the complainers still would not be happy because Trump is not a communist.

If the illegal Mexicans were our only problem we did not have a problem until Islam got their hands on our border.

The southwest united states was just as much settled by the Mexicans as it was the whites and much sooner.

When our economy started improving the citizens of this country quit taking low paying jobs in the farm industry
So our farmers started hiring illegal Mexicans mostly because it was much easier to come here illegal than it was to be legal if you had any more than a parking ticket.

Then after our economy went to hell again they come up with welfare for all, guess what, it is the trash who are the first takers.

Kill our enemies who try to cross the border and cut out the welfare for the illegal aliens, problem solved.

‘What if he has been lying?” - I was taught, at a Christian conference, to be magnanimous with others. To put that lens on - IF has been telling the truth, you will not be impugning him. IF he has been lying all the time, it will heap coals on his head and it will all be revealed soon enough.

It beats the heck out of going around suspicious and pessimistic about everyone. I love the call to magnanimity.
