WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said so-called “chain migration,” a term often used to refer to citizens or permanent residents sponsoring relatives or the clustering of certain immigrants in the same areas, cannot be included in any immigration legislation.

“CHAIN MIGRATION cannot be allowed to be part of any legislation on Immigration!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Good. Now do away with the anchor baby misinterpretation of the law.

And even H-1B visas generally lead to green cards, followed by citizenship, both of which categories are magnets for chain migration.

We need to repeal the 1986 bill.

If there is to be any legislation turning Obama's illegal DACA program into law, it has to contain language to prevent the "chain migration" Trump is talking about. But the only way any such legislation should ever come to his desk is after the Wall is funded and construction begins.

Good for Trump. For legal reasons we need to end all chain migration, not just for DACA recipients. If it’s for DACA recipients alone, they will find one federal judge to rule that the provision is unconstitutional because it is Discriminatory and shows Animus toward 3rd cousins once removed of DACA recipients.

Chain migration is part of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. If Trump won’t even flush DACA, which he can do with an executive order, and zero congressional input, he won’t be flushing the INA of 1965, even if the filibuster were done away with.

Trump is soft on immigration. He needs to be threatened with the denial of a 2nd term like Bush pere if he is to be forced back on the straight and narrow. Register your displeasure today, not on Free Republic, but at https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact

you’re missing the point of Trump’s tweet. A judge just ruled that distant relatives can’t be blocked. Trump’s tweet challenged that.

Consider the implications of, say, a polygamist man with 10 wives. That’s an easy 200 relatives - all with their hands out (as is happening in England and Germany) - and most with absolutely no documentation they are actually related. The existing regulations about the sponsor having to guarantee the livelihood, welfare and behavior of the sponsoree for 2 (?) years, and being subject to deportation himself should a sponsoree screw up, has been thrown out the window by those who should guard against such violations looking the other way. And what recent immigrant “sponsor” is going to be able to personally guarantee 200 people? It’s impossible. And it’s insane.

I just hope Trump can stand up to the uniparty when they include chain-migration for dreamers in legislation that has to pass to keep the government operating. I’m not optimistic.

Presidents don’t pass laws. Congress does.

No need to even mention it. Chain migration is implicitly part of the legislation. Green card holders and citizens can bring their relatives over, thanks to previous immigration legislation. https://www.immihelp.com/greencard/familybasedimmigration/categories.html On immigration issues, Trump isn’t draining the swamp, or even merely preserving it - he’s widening and dredging it.

Remember when I told you Trump could see around corners? He’s got this.

Now go find your MAGA cap, plop it on, and have some fun watching the MSM trying to make a story out of a dinner they weren’t even invited to.

Dude, in post 17, you did correctly lay out what the current policy is.

A judge just trashed that. Get it?

So, you’re arguing against your own post and for Trump’s position. If you say that Trump is ‘blowing smoke’, then you are accusing yourself of blowing the same smoke.

I’d enjoy it a lot more, if I could figure out why the Dems were able to fracture the Reps into overnight hysteria over a lie from the nastiest woman and slimiest man in Congress.

Trump has been secretly working with evil Dick Durban .

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/09/08/jared-kushner-helped-top-democratic-senator-lobby-wh-daca-amnesty/

Trump is lying to us .

This Amnesty bill will bring in millions .

Trump is a fool or VP Ivanka wants amnesty which is I suspect the real driving force behind this .

Recall her keeping Syrian Muslim Refugee invasion alive and well !

We have been betrayed here folks,

"Durbin did not talk to Trump during the process"

please explain how exactly that translates into: 'trump has been secretly working' blah blah blah blah

and, btw, congresscritters call the Hut all the time, especially ones trying to get press. If Graham, for instance, wanted to talk to someone specific, some contact from that area would be involved in scheduling the call to make sure that the person Lindsey wanted to talk to was actually there and prepared to receive the call. Jared would have been familiar with Kelly's schedule. Just as someone from accounting wouldn't schedule a call for a Kelly or Jared; they would call his assistant or someone in the executive area who would do that, because that's the person who would have the CEO's schedule - not the accounting guy.
