No one knows what it looked like. Travis did not take one with him but had one sewn and turned in a receipt to be paid for it, but it was burned and no one gave a description what it was like.

I’m at work and trying to get that site to come up. I haven’t asked that question in a number of years and it looks like a flag has surfaced from Mexico in 2005.
Wife and I visited the Alamo a few years ago.
Very historic...
I saw it back in 1966. Across the park from the chapel, where the original Long Wall was there sat a Woolworths, and other stores. Just around the corner to the right, was a nudie girls review.
Some with me scoffed at the Alamo. I said to them..”What did you expect to see? Dead Mexicans laying around?”
Where the Long Barracks had been was a museum with the original John Wayne THE ALAMO painting.
Why not just call it Alamo World and have rides and balloons and cotton candy? You know, like a circus or a cheesy carnival?
I will admit that as it stands today, it’s a complete dud. But I hardly think it respects the tragic/heroic history of the place to turn it into a gaudy tourist haven.
Funny thing is that at the first glimpse of the car wash, I recognized it right away. I used to use the Octopus car wash on Central Ave (old route 66) when I lived in Albuquerque years ago. And, my high school was about 3 blocks from there. ;-)
Visit.....well worth it......in fact, visit as many of our monuments and statues you can before they are disgraced, defaced and destroyed!
For many who don’t know the original layout of the Alamo fort, it covered about 2 1/2 acres, maybe more.
Upon the defeat of Santa Anna and his withdrawal back across the Rio Grande, he had the original fortress blown up to deny the Texas a military base there. Only the Chapel remained. Streets and buildings now occupy much of the fortress area there now.
Jim Bowie was originally supposed to blow up the fortress and deny Santa Anna a base, but some say he was supposed to fortify the place, which led to the battle there.
“Consequent to the plan’s passage, Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush, whose office is now in charge of running the Alamo, brought in a number of out-of-state planners to design the project...
...Instead the Alamo would be transformed into a multi-cultural hodgepodge of world history. In fact, its very name would be changed. The site would no longer be referred to as the Alamo—instead, it would be known as the San Antonio de Valero mission.”
You wouldn’t expect anything less treasonous from a Bush. When are Texans going to wake the hell up and stop voting for this disgusting family of scumbags?

People need to read up on the history of WHY the Texans revolted! When Santa Anna seized total control, many of the states of Mexico declared their independence from the Mexican Government.
Instead of forming a separate group of states, as the Confederacy did, each Mexican state went it’s own way.
Santa Anna press ganged a large number of Mayan Indians into his army and began a march north, overthrowing each of these independent states, UNTIL he came to TEXAS, where he finally suffered a defeat.
Yet after his withdrawal he still continued to attack and try and overthrow the Texas government. He later had Adrian Woll invade and occupy San Antonio.
Honoring the Mexicans who died there would be like honoring the Germans who invaded Poland.
Of course, it probably resulted in them losing the war.....

George W. Bush as governor of Texas removed the Confederate Plaques off the State building with a singular order. The Bush’s will roll over and take it up the butt for a vote and PC.
The addition of umbrella tables and other tacky tourist items is a desecration. This is a shrine and likely a grave site for the brave men who gave their lives for Texas independence. I have visited the Alamo and experienced the reverence that this site commands
P-brain has finally found his office? Amazing. He couldn’t’ seem to find it the first year in office because he was tagging around behind daddy on his campaign trail. P-brain should have turned his unearned paycheck over to the Alamo fund.
