Folks may be missing an important point. The algorithm is based on buying trends indicating many folks buying all these items are in fact buying parts to assemble a bomb. It is showing buying trends.

Yes, as I noted appears to be a UK thing. It's not about Amazon, it is about the motives of the purchasers, though I'm not sure there's much I'd want to do about that. And how stupid to order these things from Amazon.

As others have pointed out, the Amazon algorithm has no 'intelligence' - it is simply putting forward suggestions based on what others have been searching for and buying on amazon.co.uk.

It is no surprise therefore that even the BBC now admits UK 'biggest audience' in Europe for jihadist web content

One would like to hope that MI5 and the police are tapping Amazon for the IDs of those buyers so that they can be sent on expensive "de-radicalisation" programmes just the like one last week's failed London tube bomber was sent on. /s
