Russia might be about to invade Europe. Here's how America should respond
Washington Examiner ^ | Aug 31, 2017, 9:37 AM | Tom Rogan

Between Sept. 14-20, the Russian armed forces will conduct a major exercise, ZAPAD 2017. Employing forces from various Russian commands, the exercise will test the military's ability to conduct a combined arms offensive. That's exactly the kind of operation Russia would use to invade Europe.

While there's nothing new in the Russians carrying out a military exercise, this situation is different due to the scale and location of the forces involved. Russia claims under 10,000 personnel will be involved but as many as 100,000 Russian soldiers are actually expected to deploy. Their number will include armored and artillery units, and strike fighter aircraft. As interesting, instead of training in Russia, the forces will conduct their exercises in Belarus. That geographic choice is designed to send a specific message to NATO.

After all, bordering NATO member Poland, Belarus offers ZAPAD forces the means to rapidly strike into the heart of NATO. Joining that threat is the Russian fortress-oblast of Kaliningrad, where reservists have been called up...................

[ You can put me in as “Secretary of BLANK” where if you want to kill a bureaucracy, just put me in charge and I will shutter it and move to the next! :)

If done correctly, that shouldn’t take too long. Whaddya gonna do in week two? ]

Solution in such a scenario: We will defend and recover NATO members countries from the Russians in direct proportion to their historical financial commitment to NATO. Oh, you didn’t spend the 2% you were supposed to for the past 30 years, instead you only spent .02%? Too bad, guess 90% of your populace needs to learn Russian.

Sounds fair.

...ummmm...yeaahhh...tell me again about the great logistics and supply lines that Russia has the resources to build that would make this “blitz” possible ... even with no Western opposition I suspect that their vehicles would be breaking down and spare parts in short supply before they got to the French border ...

LoL..yup, to quote doc Brown.."a shoddy bomb casing full of old pinball machine parts" :-)

I have wanted to use that on several different threads about this subject. :-)

My first thought was also boosted fission..or perhaps several smaller warheads set off at once.

If it was several smaller warheads and they were in the same "Zero Room" they would have to have been detonated at almost precisely the same time or they would not have remained intact long enough to create a super critical state. I'm not saying they couldn't have done it but it adds another layer of difficulty and expense. Triggering multiple Fire Sets to go off at the proper moment would be tricky.

"Then let Putin have Europe and he’ll strong-arm the Islamists like the Euros cannot. He’s not PC at all."

Here's an oldie for you. People just can't get enough of it. The "Mother Church of Russia" (Eastern Orthodox) was treated better than others during the days of the Soviet Union. On the issue of Russia and Islam,...

On Russia and its Islamist ties, the following is from an old post of mine. Sorry I don't have time right now to update the links and info, but anyone can go to the CIA World Factbook for more up-to-date info.

Russia has military friends in its Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO: members listed below).

All of the following excerpts are from the CIA World Factbook (as accessed on 29OCT06).

Russia
Religions:
Russian Orthodox 15-20%, Muslim 10-15%, other Christian 2% (2006 est.) note: estimates are of practicing worshipers; Russia has large populations of non-practicing believers and non-believers, a legacy of over seven decades of Soviet rule

Kazakhstan
Religions:
Muslim 47%, Russian Orthodox 44%, Protestant 2%, other 7%

Kyrgyzstan
Religions:
Muslim 75%, Russian Orthodox 20%, other 5%

Tajikistan
Religions:
Sunni Muslim 85%, Shi'a Muslim 5%, other 10% (2003 est.)

Uzbekistan
Religions:
Religions: Muslim 88% (mostly Sunnis), Eastern Orthodox 9%, other 3%

Belarus
Government restrictions on freedom of speech and the press, peaceful assembly, and religion continue . . .
Religions:
Eastern Orthodox 80%, other (including Roman Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, and Muslim) 20% (1997 est.)

Armenia
Religions:
Armenian Apostolic 94.7%, other Christian 4%, Yezidi (monotheist with elements of nature worship) 1.3%

Utterly stupid. There is not the slightest chance Russia intends to invade Europe except in the twisted minds of neocons and NATO fanboys.

And then there are Syria and Iran, too.

This bozo was BORN in 1986. He has zero military or life experience. His analysis is utterly stupid. This isn’t even close to an invasion force.

And yeah, Russia is about to seize Poland and Germany.
Then what?

Well, they didn’t invade. I didn’t think they would either, but now the question is whether their forces leave Belarus. About that I have doubts.

There are no Muslims in Poland or the Baltics. If Russia is going to invade it is going to invade them.

“The writing is on the wall for Europe with demographics now making it a Muslim continent within a few generations. Merkel foolishly accelerated that timeline by decades by importing millions more. It’s now unavoidable.”

I have a device that could alter that equation. It’s called a bayonet.

>> Russia might be about to invade Europe.

Totally unacceptable... grammar.

It should read “Russia possibly might be about to invade Europe.”

Au contraire! The original sentence ("Russia might be about to invade Europe") is grammatically correct.

The alternative proposed by Leaning Right contains an unnecessary "possibly," but is otherwise acceptable.

Regards,

...actually, all Russia has to do is simply WAIT.

In a few years, Islamic-dominated Western Europe will be imposing even more demands on freedom-loving Eastern Europe, to the point of threatening to ‘enforce’ their demands, via military action (the EU is not far from that now, as it is).

With only one place to turn, guess who comes back to Eastern Europe - the one remaining Christian country with a military worth respecting (in Europe, at least) - Russia - but this time they’re invited in.

Don’t believe me - then just watch.
