"Free Speech Week" at Berkeley has been canceled by organizers who complain of "roadblocks" put up by the school's administration.
But in a bizarre twist, it appears that the entire event was never meant to come off. It appears that the man behind Free Speech Week, Milo Yiannopoulos, was putting out news releases announcing the participation of speakers who now say they never intended to participate.

I don’t know the real story but this article looks like b.s. It is very confused and vacillates between claims that Milo “never” intended to pull off any event at all and more limited claims that not every speaker was confirmed or that some speakers changed their minds etc. The reader doesn’t get any accurate idea of the facts. Plus, the article is written with much bias and misdirection. I’ll look for something worth reading on the subject.

Free speech is not compatible with the Left. Berkeley is the epicenter of the Stalinist Left in the US. Nothing will change as long as there is taxpayer supported tenure and the courts continue to refuse to uphold the Constitution. State officials that suppress free speech should be in prison.
Janet Napolitano, Head Regent of UC’s was interviewed by radio today. She sounded like death warmed over. Naturally she lied and said UC welcomes Free Speech even if security is required. Too bad she didn’t order security when this round of agitprop started earlier this year.
I enjoyed the few times I heard Milo speak. Like Hitchens, he’s not an ideological soulmate of mine, but anyone who speaks the King’s English as beautifully, grammatically, honestly as they do make listening easy. Having worked with Marines for some time, I’m desensitized to salty speech.

PJMedia is spinning this one. Milo paid the fees and got the paperwork filed under the last minute deadlines Berkeley imposed. UC Berkeley was not going to let this happen. So much for free speech.
Berkeley will not regain its sanity until it stops coddling its students.
Yes, as I read this article I kept wondering when it was going to get to the point. It never did.
