Alejandro Villanueva, a Pittsburgh Steeler and U.S. Army Ranger veteran who deployed three times to Afghanistan, was the only Steeler to leave the Steeler's locker room to go to the field to show his respect for the anthem, the flag and those who have served, are serving and who have died defending the American way of life.

The rest of the team stayed in the locker room to avoid controversy.

If Art Rooney II had put out a public statement that was nothing more than a blank sheet of paper or a blank screen, it would have been just as meaningful and effective as that slop there. WTF?

As I've suspected since yesterday ... these NFL owners don't have a clue about how to deal with this situation at all, so they're reduced to issuing the dumbest, most meaningless statements you'll ever read.

It's been said that steroid use shrinks the testosterone factory in men. Apparently, Villanueva's teammates are hooked on steroids.

Awesome picture!

Despite the enemedia and their leftist culture to try to take down America, at least their are some still in the NFL that understand the importance of what our flag stands for.

That is the exact same freedoms and liberties, the enemedia and the left are trying to take away with trying to normalize their anti-American ways. I believe it will backfire bigly and it needs to.

Much respect Mr Villanueva and other NFL players that stood for our flag.

Even in this “participation medal” military we have these days, the Army doesn’t hand out the Bronze Star with combat V to every joe who shows up... he paid the ‘entry fee’ to get that, let alone the second award.

Sadly, the leftists in the Steelers, especially the one running the Steelers, will end up punishing him for his actions and may end up killing his football career... but I suspect he thinks that it’s worth it to hold up his oath and creed.

Good for him!

I noticed the last couple of seconds before the end, when the rest of the Steelers were running onto the field, not many in the stands were cheering.

A real man among spoiled emotionally stunted little boys. This man has done three tours as a Army Ranger in Afghanistan. He knows real when he sees it. Unlike his teammates. God Bless America!

Now that’s a very interesting point. Free speech in the NFL is evidently okay (and even encouraged), but only if it’s the correct kind of free speech.

Man, would I love to ask Roger Goodell about that.

I bet not one Steeler told him to his face not to go out or disrespected him.

Art Rooney 2 is an idiot.

When did anti-American ways become diverse opinions???

This isn’t even a freedom of speech issue as the NFL is a private organization for the most part. Goodell and the owners could have nipped this long ago but the idiots caved in to this corrupt political correctness culture.

Idiots, all of them that support this idiotic anti-American “diverse opinions” BS.

They won’t say it to his face, they’ll just backstab and kill his career behind his back.

You’re exactly right, they don’t hand out the V with the Bronze Star like popcorn.

I also believe he gave some thought to being the lone player to stand and he chose to be the patriot that he is and do the right thing.

"Sadly, the leftists in the Steelers....may end up punishing him for his actions...."

This starts an interesting train of thought, Spktyr...his fellow team members may not give him the protection he needs on certain plays or figure out some other way to harm or impede him during a game just to get back at him for not being "in solidarity" with them.

Have the spineless commissioner and owners thought of how letting the radical players continue their activism unchecked may split the teams into hateful and resentful "sides", no longer working as cohesive teams?

This whole "anthem" thing may spin out of control and cause so many bad effects that I don't even want to think about it.....it could become so harmful, chaotic, crazy and ruinous.

DJT should create a job for him in government, a sports ambassador, or anything, so this hero can turn his back on the NFL and walk away.
