Trump: Dems will win Alabama Senate seat if Moore wins primary
The Hill ^ | 09/25/2017 | Jacqueline Thomsen

Posted on 09/25/2017 7:04:51 AM PDT by GIdget2004

President Trump said that a primary win by Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore will open the seat for a Democratic win during a radio appearance Monday.

Trump, who traveled to Alabama Friday to stump for Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), told the syndicated "Roy & Bubba" radio show based out of Birmingham, Alabama that Democrats will pour millions of dollars into the election if their candidate goes up against Moore.

"Luther Strange is going to be a great Senator. He loves Alabama, he loves the states and he loves the country. He will absolutely win against the Democrat,” Trump said, according to Alabama.com.

“Ray will have a hard time. If Luther wins, the Democrats will hardly fight. If Ray wins (Democrats) will pour in $30 million."

Trump also initially called Moore by the wrong name during the interview, referring to him as “Ray Moore.”

When host Rick Burgess pointed out that Moore’s name is Roy, Trump responded that it’s “not a good sign" if the president doesn’t know his name.

"I don't know that much about Roy Moore. Roy Moore is going to have a very hard time getting elected against the Democrat,” Trump said. “Against Luther they won't even fight."

And the NH senatorial candidate (frenchy-sounding last name) over pathetic Ayotte, and Murkowski, etc, etc.

I think Trump may be wrong on this one. First more likely Trump didn't get elected because people like Trump. More likely Trump got elected because people didn't want Hillary and/or the Democrat party. Trump popularity is coming from him talking about draining the swamp of corrupt politicians etc. basically talk like that, it is a popular thing to talk about when campaigning.

This election primary is a different story though. The players in the election cycle are different people and the issues involve are different, the big question is will the Christian culture deliver more votes to Moore then Strange. The south especially the deep south is harder to predict in these matters then if this was happening in a northern state where Trump comes from. In the North if some one tells you to goto Hell they are blunt about it, in the deep south if some one tells you to goto Hell they might tell you in just a way as to make you look forward to it. The complexes of the south are harder to understand.

If Moore wins, he needs to avoid talk shows hosted by known Democrats. Also, needs to listen to and follow advice of those who have traveled down the political highway. So unlike Todd Akin who did neither...

That WOULD Be strange ...

I think people commenting do not know Luther Strange’s history. I have doubts if POTUS does either. He has other priorities and judges on the fact that when he asked Luther to support a bill he did.

Luther Strange has made millions of $ as a lobbyist in a 20 year career.

Senator Luther Strange of Alabama has promised to “Kill Unfair Trade Deals” but that’s not likely considering he played a major role in outsourcing of American jobs overseas for the company Russell Brands, LLC, maker of athletic apparel, who moved its “final assembly of garments abroad, to Mexico, Honduras and elsewhere in the Caribbean basin.”

CAFTA(a NAFTA like deal for Central America), was promoted by Luther Strange, for Russell Brands who paid him $660,000. One year after passage 7000 jobs lost in Alabama, 5 factories built in Central America.

Luther Strange is deeply died with pay to play and corruption. Look up the Gov Bennet scandal where as AG he collected evidence of wrong doing by the Governor of Alabama and moved to prosecute only to be appointed to fill Sessions seat by that Governor. The next AG did indict the Governor and when the Lieutenant Governor became Governor her first move was to call for this special election which was optional under Alabama State law so that Strange wouldn’t profit from his self serving disregard for justice & his ethical responsibilities. This is not the only incidence of ethical misconduct and payoff in Luther’s past.

Luther Strange pretends to be anti immigrant but owns 16% of a firm that sells EB-5 visas to foreign nationals.

Trump knows who he needs and wants on his team. He knows how to win and who he needs to win. Your continued mantra of GOPe tells me you have a narrow vision and don’t understand the real world of politics in DC. Trump’s in the middle of it and he knows how to get results; where are you? Moore would be a spoiler and no help to Trump’s agenda. The threat of losing the Senate with Moore as candidate is real.

“Look for a lot of RINO’s in the Senate to retire after Senator Moore is sworn into office.”

Why should any Senator throw away all their pay, prestige, & perks as a matter of principle? Easier to stay and heckle from the sidelines.

Are Murkowski, McCain, & Collins really going to retire if Judge Moore wins?

Would have Cruz won against Hillary? I doubt it.

I was originally a Cruz support in '16, and am on the record here as believing that Cruz, Trump, or ANY of the field EXCEPT John Ellis Bush would have beaten Mrs. Clinton. She was a bad candidate.

Even before I supported Trump, I stated that he would would win, and it "wouldn't be particularly close". My only mistake was I thought NY/NJ would have been more competitive than they were. I also thought Cruz would have won, but in the more regular 2000/2004 scenario where it hangs on one or two states with no crazy red-blue switches.

Right now, I am glad that Trump, not Cruz won. He has brought a lot of stuff festering under the surface into plain view. We have some gangrene to cut away.

“Are Murkowski, McCain, & Collins really going to retire if Judge Moore wins?”

McLame will never retire. That’s a given. Orin Hatch however has been hinting at retirement & I expect he will not be the last of the GOPe to do so when Moore wins.

Scuttlebut regarding Collins is she will be running for governor of Maine.

Murkowski will have to be voted out. She reminds me too much of McLame.

Oh my, so many typos I’ll just say mea culpa. I took a paragraph and there must have been embedded characters like the tags, then my own typos like died rather than dyed, must have been thinking of John McCain’s interview.

Trump has calculated that Strange will better help him advance his agenda. Honestly, I am no fan of either of these guys. But Strange is a team player and POTUS will not have to baby sit another TV hound maverick Senator on every big issue if he wins.

“Rumor is...”

I remember the “rumor” recently that President Trump was being drugged too lololololol
______________
and held captive
incommunicado
not allowed to compose his own tweets
cut off from all information

Yeah that’s so obvious now, after the past few days, isn’t it?

Giz, I have noticed that MOST GOP “leaders” are martini-sipping wastrels who would rather cave than fight. And that includes Strange Luther.
