I once had a conversation with Robert Vaughn who was a friend of his. He thought it was more likely cigarettes that did him in rather than asbestos. Vaughn wasn't a dumb guy.

My understanding is If you were exposed to asbestos you might get cancer.

If you were exposed to asbestos and smoke, you will get cancer.

I had asbestos exposure in the shipyards and shipboard. So far so good.

Let’s not forget that he smoked like a chimney. And asbestos cancer and cigarette cancer can only be differentiated by a biopsy. Good chance that they complemented each other.
