When the Method Overwhelms the Message
Townhall.com ^ | October 1, 2017 | Derek Hunter

Protesting NFL players and progressive activist journalists have not been having a good week. In an attempt to “raise awareness” of their cause they’ve become the Westboro Baptist Church of the national anthem. Although that makes me happy because I’m not a fan of frauds, I want to take a moment to let them and their fellow traveler progressives know what should be self-evident to anyone who thinks beyond the level of a 5-year-old: If you choose a bad method, your message does not matter.

As media boobs like Chris Matthews, Chris Cuomo, and Don Lemon predictably skip down their well-worn paths of claiming criticism of the protests are racists, we’re finding that apparently even the black people who don’t like it. Is to they and others with an IQ higher than their shoe size to whom I’d like to speak.

Almost everyone loves puppies, right? So, let’s pretend for a moment that I want to raise awareness about how puppies are great. After careful consideration, I settle on the idea of writing “Puppies Rule!” on a Band-Aid I’ll wear on my middle finger. And every time I meet or see someone I show them my middle finger, raised in pride for my cause.

How much awareness do you think I’m going to raise compared to how many people I tick off? Toward which side will that scale would tilt?

I suspect most people who love puppies still wouldn’t appreciate me flipping them the bird randomly, no matter how on board with my cause they were. Many would return the one-finger salute and, undoubtedly, a few fists would fly. CARTOONS | Mike Lester View Cartoon

Now, I could just claim victim status – that everyone who flipped me off back or threw a punch at me did so simply because they hate puppies and people who love them. And some undoubtedly would. But only a tiny fraction of those who just had a knee-jerk emotional reaction to having me give them the finger out of the blue.

Being a rational person, after a couple of weeks of dirty looks, complaints, and swings at my head, I might stop and wonder if, perhaps, my chosen method of conveyance for my message was not the best.

Once I came to the proper, rational conclusion, I’d change my method, take the Band-Aid off my middle finger and switch to wearing a hat or shirt, or actually speaking to people about the virtues of puppies.

That’s what a sane person would do. That’s not what the left does.

Colin Kaepernick started kneeling during the national anthem at NFL games because he wanted the attention and all the negativity that has come with it. He likely didn’t think it’d harm his career the way it has, but since he’s been radicalized he hasn’t been known for rational thought or ability on the field.

Lack of rational thought or not, there’s no way he didn’t know the reaction would be similar to flipping everyone the bird upon meeting them. If not at first, certainly soon thereafter.

He could have done something before or after the anthem, but he chose during to show his contempt for the country during the one moment everyone united.

There is an audience for that mindset, and many of them have press passes. Some of the most successful people in the country despise the country that empowered them to obtain that success. It’s an inherent flaw in the progressive mind I’m glad I don’t understand.

Kaepernick also could have articulated his message into the microphones he had access to on a daily basis rather than on the field. He knew what he was doing, and the NFL knew what it was letting happen.

There’s no point in addressing Kaepernick’s cause; it’s bogus. Police are not hunting unarmed black men, the country isn’t built on systemic racism, there is no mass incarceration epidemic. You want to avoid going to prison, avoid breaking the law.

Do mistakes happen? Yes. Are there some bad people out there? Or course. But neither of these are anywhere close to more than a blip on the radar. If you want to believe you were pulled over because a police officer noticed your race as you blew past their car on the freeway at 85 miles per hour, knock yourself out.

You can think whatever you like to inoculate yourself from the fact that the only thing limiting how far you excel in life is you. But your dislike of reality doesn’t make it any less real.

The idea that the United States is a racist country is a lie, and so is the idea that protesting during the national anthem isn’t about the national anthem. That’s why they’re protesting during the national anthem. If they really cared about their cause they’d make a case, not a spectacle. But their case is bogus, so the spectacle is all they have. It’s enough for the media, but it’s also “enough” for a lot the American people too…just in a completely different way.

But hey, I’m just raising awareness about puppies…even though I’m really more of a cat person.

What I marvel at is when’s NFL player saying “our protest is not about the flag or the anthem...” Well hey Einstein, if you have to explain to me what your protest is about, as your choice of where and how to protest drowns out your message, maybe you should go back to the drawing board and figure out a better way to protest, bring attention to your actual cause, and actually try to sway others to see your point and agree that something has to change. This approach sets your cause backwards like a 15 yard penalty. We are now deaf to your cause.

So take a step back, stand for the Anthem with hand over your heart, have a press conference and appologize and say that to a room full of Police and fans and offer to replace the tickets out of your own fat wallets to every fan that burnt theirs in protest to your misguided actions as a gesture to make amends. Say it was a mistake, you are sorry, you learned something and want to make things OK again.

Then we can decide to forgive you or not. Americans are a forgiving lot, but that begins with a heart felt apology.

This paragraph is objectively true. It also destroys the whole “progressive” agenda.

Therefore the lie must be defended against the truth.

Without deception, the “progressive project” completely falls apart.

Their message is lost in the emphatic dramatization of it. The cameras and media reporting don’t do it justice if there is such a thing in this case. Their emphasis on drama lets me know that they have a real need to be the focus of the world’s attention for their own sake. PMS= “Poor Me Syndrome”.

Interesting piece by the author,Derek Hunter, but he misses a key point.

The America, anthem hating thugs are being quite rationale vis a vis their real feelings and goals. This is not about "bringing awareness" or "educating the public" about any subject. The black radicals and black racists are acting on their core belief that America is the enemy. They believe that American history and is foundation is nothing but the tale of genocide, slavery, rape, and oppression. To them, there is nothing good about America, because it was founded by White Europeans, who are all rapists, racists, and who stole the advance culture of the Africans and passed it off as a White Man's invention.

If you think I am joking, you need to study the curriculum, books, and lesson plans of every "Black Studies" program in public schools and universities.

If you still don't believe me, watch the trailer for this movie, Out of Darkness: A Film by ∆+ . This is a 2 1/2 hour movie that is shown in every Black Studies program.

Out of Darkness: A Film by ∆+

In this movie, these wack jobs believe that Egyptian culture was actually the product of Sub-Saharan Africans, and that the invented EVERYTHING from concrete, to fashion, the fork. Moreover, it is demagoguery at its worst. It portrays all of European and white history as akin to serial murder, interposed with cheap theatrical tricks like often inserting audio of the screams of women in the background when a white man is shown on the screen.

It is even beyond bad junk science. Towards the end of this movie, Nation of Islam-esque Pan Africans state, openly, that black people have a divine nature within them. When white people are near extinction, black people will become as Gods.

It is a lie straight from Genesis and Satan: "You will be as gods."

If you don't believe me, watch the whole movie here:

I forgot to add, the person with the Greek Delta symbol and plus sign also goes by the name: Amadeuz Christ.

You can look him up. The film also has about 15 minutes devoted to a whole scale attack on Jesus Christ and Christianity.

But it IS about the Anthem and the Flag. Coperdink said so at the first kneel-down.

Lies work quite well on the easily-deceived.

Had a guy at a church organization - he tests me about my Faith, of course - to see if it is as genuine as his, mind you.

THEN Obama appears on the scene - and of course, his new hero. I get into the actual TRUTH about Obama, what he stands for; point out Scripture, etc. This guy NEVER will talk to me again after that. And made sure that when he came by my desk to have his frowny-face intact so I am aware of his displeasure and disapproval.

It was then I learned the reality of the kooky Obama-worshiping madness that was sweeping a good portion of this nation. This guy was seething whenever he went by (a cleaning crew member that came in late in the afternoons).

His “jesus”, his “gospel” was the social gospel, a movement that often uses labels that people think are the same. I’ll never forget this guy wanting to know if I >>>truly<<< believed in “Jesus”.

If I ever had any doubts that the Antichrist could walk on to the scene and be hailed by many calling themselves Christians, all doubt was removed at that point. They not only go for it, but with great zeal.

And this was before I learned in great detail just exactly what sort of fraud Obama was. But I knew enough to know that he was poison to the nation.

And 8 years bore that out. Shoot, other “fundamental” Christians disowned me because I wasn’t respectful enough to Obama. After all, he was the leader.

Ah, I see.

Well, so was Hitler, Mussolini, Chariman Mao, Uncle Ho Chi Minh, Josef Stalin, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, etc. etc. etc.

Oh, and the Antichrist will be “the leader”, too.

And here we are, 9 years later with the fruit of Obama and his slobbering liberals. I could list much of the damage done under the Lying Kenyan, but we here know it all too well.

I saw immediately some of the rationalized “theology” that helped put him there. You can bet your sweet bippy it was a movement within churches. When I saw that one church had altered a Gospel song to sing praises about this guy, it (among other things) was just about making my hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

Jeffress said Obama paved the road for the Antichrist. That he did.

At a minimum.

Dontcha love other *Christians* who judge how spiritual you are or how true a Christian you are based on how you conform to their ideas of what a Christian should be like?

Yep - had one such cult leader in our church - I was tasked by the pastor to help him assimilate. In the end, he stabbed both of us in the back. Because he, of course, had to be the focus of all things, all things were about him and only his interpretation and methods were to reign supreme.

He was part of splitting the church. The Holy Spirit gave me a Word of Knowledge one day about him. Prophetic it was; came to pass somewhere around 2+ years later. Astoundingly accurate. Had I told anyone, they would have laughed me off.

Some folks seem Hell-bent, literally, on getting that “ethnos shall rise again ethnos” started.

I suppose we should not be surprised about some radicals.

I was helping an acquaintance through some difficult times and she was a user of people and a manipulator.

She told me that her landlord claimed to be a Christian but then she’d rip the landlord to pieces over not doing what she THOUGHT the landlord should have done. And then end it with *And she calls herself a CHRISTIAN! A “REAL” Christian would do (fill in the blank)*

So this woman’s opinion of whether or not someone was a Christian was based on whether they did what she thought they should have.

Personally, I think the landlord was on to this woman’s game and wouldn’t engage or be manipulated and this woman couldn’t stand that.
