An active shooter reportedly on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay bar Hotel in Las Vegas has gunned down at least one police officer and others.

I suppose I should cut them a break - it is such an unreal event - how do you react? Some guy (lead singer??) that was on stage at the time thought it was the fireworks going off early. Then upon figuring out it was bullets - didn’t know where they were coming from. I think he said he first thought they might be from the crowd.

Unless the gun was sanitized (manufactured with no serial number or had the serial numbers seriously defaced beyond forensic tech to get back) we’ll soon find out where it came from. If it’s a belt-fed machine gun, as most are expecting, we’ll really find out fast. Those things are heavily controlled items and all the ones legal to own in the US are on a Federal registry. If it was originally a military or police owned gun we’ll find out where it came from too.

The local vegas abc affiliate channel 13 reported that the gunman fired so many shots that he set off the fire alarm on his floor, which in turn helped the authorities to locate where he was.

the prison in Calif City opened 2006, but it’s interesting he’d have an address in such a forsaken place. (north of Mohave/Edwards AFB at the official end of the road)

I am very skeptical that it was belt fed. Even stolen belt feds demand big bucks in the illegal arms trade in the US. I am think homebrew FA. I currently believe that there was multiple weapons based upon some things the Sheriff said.

There have been a number of thefts of military guns in the last couple years, some of which occurred after Hillary lost. Many have not been recovered. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that an Obamanite in the service who was getting out could have passed the gun ‘over the fence’ as it were on his way out the door. Remember, the Obama military was run very shoddily.

Mandalay Bay knew exactly who was in that room within one minute of the shots being fired. That information was immediately relayed to the Las Vegas Metro Police.

Yep - in the vid he started off by spraying the stage, evidently reloaded then turned his attention to the crowd. You can see the electronics getting trashed with the sound of the shooting.

Speculation on my part, but there are a lot of things smuggled in from Mexico that wind up in Las Vegas. No reason military grade fully automatic weapons couldn’t be.

FNC reported scanner traffic broadcast on something about an “mlife platinum gold card” related to Danley. Anyone know what that is? Credit/debit card? Something related to the Mandalay Bay hotel? If the latter, what’s the significance of the platinum status?
