Considering that most battlefield deaths have been caused by guns, the coach is indubitably right but his observation is meaningless. It is like saying that more Americans were killed in automobile accidents than have been killed on the roads and streets.

Used to be but it has dropped into the 30 to 40 thousand range due to improvements in safety technology and higher seat belt use. I remember during the Vietnam war they were saying the annual death toll on the roads equalled the entire Vietnam war which was 50 something thousand.
