A group of North Korean defectors sent about 300,000 leaflets denouncing Pyongyang's nuclear missile development into the communist nation on Tuesday as the North marked the anniversary of its ruling Workers' Party.
Eight members of the Fighters for a Free North Korea, an organization of North Korean defectors, flew the leaflets by balloon from a mountain in the western city of Gimpo near the border with the North around 6 a.m. Ten giant balloons were used to send the fliers.
The leaflets condemn the North's nuclear and missile provocations. Packed together with them were 2,000 one-dollar bills, a sort of sweetener aimed at getting more North Koreans to pick up the leaflets, as well as about 300 booklets denouncing Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.
I was checking this site to see if North Korea had fired a test missile...
I used to find a North Korean pamphlet or leaflet every once in awhile and turn them in to the Korean National Police who’d read them to me. We all got a chuckle.

I hope these defectors got family out of the North. Fat Boy would probably do very nasty things to the defectors’ families — especially after this.
He seems to do things to mark occasions, just as his father and grandfather did. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a Korean milestone, it could be one of ours, like 9/11 or July 4th.

They should just announce many many more launchings of such balloons, make FatBoy think there are countless millions of leaflets being delivered all over North Korea..... he will got nuts trying to track them all down.
OR, even better, actually blanket every mile of the country with such leaflets...... but that would get expensive, and might be very dangerous to every person who picks them up. FatBoy could well take to killing anyone who looks at a leaflet. Maybe the “fake” angle is a better option (safer for people in North Korea).

I take it that’s just snark, since when someone defects from NK their whole family is rounded up and sent to what is in practice - if not name - death camps. That’s if they’re not summarily executed.
They defectors are very fortunate if any family member is left alive.
So, there’s really not much in the way of “family back home” left to worry about.
The defectors who pulled off this caper wouldn't have put their names anywhere on those leaflets.There's no way for the Norks to know who was responsible.
Besides, it's just a reporter claiming that "defectors" were responsible. Who knows who's really behind it?

They should use balloons to fly in food, telling them there’s more of this in the south.
