Was the exit door that Paddock bolted shut with a steel bar the door the police came through? I haven’t read anything about if they had to breach that door. If not then what was the purpose of Paddock bolting that door if there was another way in?
The ad hoc LEO team that breached the shooter's room arrived on the 32nd floor via the stairwell. There was a steel plate barring the stairwell door installed by Paddock. One member of the LEO team was SWAT. He had a crowbar and removed the steel bar. The SWAT member also had the explosive equipment to breach the perp's room door.
Yes. The officers on 60 minutes said he drilled shut the door to staircase that dumps out into the hallway next to his room. I guess he thought that they would be coming up that way to get thim, but the SWAT guy had a pry bar with him and he popped off the metal sheet easily. According to the cops who were there with the one SWAT guy.
