I lived in Napa 2014-2015.

Napa wines account for only about 5% of national wine sales. Those are mostly premium wines that never make it into “distribution” (i.e. retail). They are mostly sold directly to the consumer by the winery or some make it onto the menu of top-line restaurants.

The vast majority of affordable wines that people buy come from the central valley (Lodi) and elsewhere.
