I’d go even further. Backup everything on the device. Hide the backup. Keep your #@^%$* mouth shut about the backup - tell no one. Expect that *if* you get your device back, it may have been wiped completely, as in factory data reset. No contacts, emails, pictures, videos, music, nada. In other words cooperate, but look out for #1.
