Like Reagan was the right leader for his day.
So is Trump.
Like Reagan, he is realigning the political universe.
He is indeed.
More than any “legitimate” Republican has been since.
The first time I saw ‘candidate Trump’ was on late night tv - Jimmy Fallon show. Fallon was asking goofy questions and laughing at his own self. Trump used Fallon as a prop, ignoring the questions, staring directly into the camera, and speaking to the viewers directly. This was very early in the primaries, but at that moment, I knew he would win. And, I thought nobody else has communicated so directly with the American people since President Reagan.
Well, maybe Reagan without the charm.
Buchanan a fan of the Iran nuclear deal?
He seems to be promoting it.
He seems to be denigrating Trump in this piece.
President Trump exposed the media for propagandists. I don't know Dr. Laura - but her prescriptions for political relationships ... I just don't care anymore. I found lately I don't care what the talkers say its been decades of listening to the same diatribes - we know the arguments by rote now. We nominate and elect president Trump and most of them go AWOL. Shows are crammed full of advertisers yelling at me - rarely is there anything original or god forbid genuinely funny.
The talkers and pundits have become stale. Also a number of them went Bat Doodoo crazy enough to make me suspect of all of them.
But that was a different time.
Democrats weren't nearly as up front with their nastiness then. Even with his charm, I don't think the rats would be acting any differently with him had he been elected in 2016. Nor would the media.
Trump is far from charmless, most people like working with him, and say he is quite wonderful. One thing for certain, Trump has the instincts to take the fight to them, perhaps even more so than the Gipper did.
It's a different time.
Emphasis mine.
Then again, I think we need a President who calls it like he sees it and says exactly what's on the mind of those who put him in office. Trump does that, in spades.
He has the opportunity to be but keeps getting blocked by the Senate.
Reagan took the fight back to the Democrats, he just did it in a much different way. He was polite, charming, made his case and spoke directly to the American people when he did it.
I still remember President Reagan telling the American People to call their Representatives and Senators if we wanted our taxes lowered. We did, in force, the switchboards in D.C. were overwhelmed for DAYS on end and taxes were lowered. It was clear and convincing evidence to Congress that the American People were on the side of President Reagan.
We need that same clear and convincing evidence to manifest itself again today. I don't believe for a second that President Trump's approval rating is hovering around 40%. I think it's actually much higher and if he said to the American people to burn up the phone lines and inboxes of Congress it'd get done and Congress would sh*t their pants.
Excellent point
No! Reagan was a precursor of Trump! Reagan showed what a strong President could do, but he was hamstrung by the NWO. Trump is showing what an unchanged strong President can do.
Reagan = Gene Tunney
Trump = Rocky Marciano
If he succeeds, history will record him as one of the few truly great American Presidents.
Will always love The Gipper, but I don't think he had the sheer, visceral, fighting grit that is needed for today's climate.
Trump, so far, has been doing BETTER than Reagan.
I don’t think Trump is as conservative as Reagan. But I’m a Big Time fan of him so far.
TRUMP also has a lot of ideas that pat Buchannan introduced when he ran for president in 1992 and in 1996. All the horrible things that were said bout pats positions were said about Trump. so I feel that Pat Buchanan is the real godfather of Trump.
