George Clooney Accused of Helping Blacklist Actress Who Complained of Sexual Harassment (Update)

George Clooney has been accused of helping “blacklist” an actress after she complained of sexual and racial harassment.

“Clooney helped blacklist me when I spoke up [about] harassment on ER,” claimed ER actress Vanessa Marquez in a post on Twitter. “Women who dont play the game lose career… I did.”

“He’s not who he pretends [to be],” added Marquez in another post. “Wells, NBC, Amblin, WB, cast & crew & my agents all complicit in my #Blacklist [for] speaking UP in ’95”

After one user expressed their shock that Clooney would be accused of covering up sexual harassment, Marquez replied, “He’s a monster in his own way… Everyone should know The Truth About Clooney.”

Marquez also accused actor Eriq La Salle and crew member Terence Nightingall of being “pussy grabbers,” and claimed cast members Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle, and Julianna Margulies racially harassed her.

We are starting to receive accusations from people no one ever heard of.

Count me as unsympathetic. Most of these women knew or had heard of the “casting couch”. Like it or not, that was the ticket to get work and those who found themselves in compromising positions should have expected it. Aside from any serious rape accusations, I don’t think it’s a big deal.

As I see it, there are four categories of women who may come forward.

1. Women who were basically raped and have physical and/or long term damage to their psyche.
2. Women who were harassed with threats of career death and fearfully acquiesced and suffer tremendous regret.
3. Women who willingly participated in the casting couch to advance themselves but know they are stigmatized. For them, this is an opportunity to cleanse themselves of the stigma but becoming a victim.
4. Feminists who think everything is harassment or sexism. The type who says you are patriarchy scum for holding a door for them.

The first two are victims of terrible behavior and potentially crimes. The second two would be mercenaries taking advantage of a situation to advance some agenda. The problem with Hollywood is that undoubtedly there are countless women who are real victims so no matter how many mercenaries pop up they can never discredit them. Everyone will be believed.

I say this because when I read this story, it seems to me that this women is in that fourth bin. She basically says that every single male on the show harassed her in some way. Is it more likely that everyone harassed her or that she's a snowflake who sees harassment in every interaction with men? Well, there's no way to know and in light of the situation in Hollywood now she'll and anyone else who piles on is going to get the benefit of the doubt. If Clooney is innocent (some think he's gay) then he still has no way he can defend himself in this environment. It will dog him.

And I'm okay with that because they all knew what was going on, even if they didn't participate. They ALL knew. So they are all culpable of aiding and abetting the crimes against the women (and kinds) in those first two groups.

I think it’s awesome the flood gates have opened. It is going to be very hard indeed to put this genie back in the bottle which is great b/c Hollywood deserves it! I also like that women who were abused by someone other than HW, now have the courage to speak up. The story of corruption in Hollywood is really gaining traction. Now we just need someone to start talking about all the pedophilia.
