A Georgia physician said her plan to honor a fallen soldier by singing the U.S. national anthem aboard a Delta Air Lines plane carrying the soldiers casket was stopped by a flight attendant who told her it would violate company policy.
Dr. Pamela Gaudry of Savannah said she and fellow passengers were told to stay quietly in our seats as an honor guard escorted the casket from the plane Saturday at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. A flight attendant told her that singing The Star Spangled Banner would make passengers from other countries uncomfortable, she said.
I couldnt put up with that, Gaudry told The Associated Press in an interview Monday. I wouldnt be offended if I was in their country.

It seems odd only from the perspective of social conformism.
They also have the right to lose profits.
I think decorum and protocol are right for particular, routine events like changing of the guard.
But decorum and protocol are the exception, not the rule. We’re not going to live like this is some never ending ceremony. Sometimes you just have to be real.
And the reason the stewardess gave was that our national anthem would offend foreigners. Your post and others above seem to be supporting this garbage.
(singing) Some-body's got an Ego problem....
It’s clearly a conspiracy. A pity no one has let you in on it.
They sang "America the Beautiful" (Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain...) and whoever started singing it started in a key way too high for their respective range. They never would have hit the high notes on the chorus "America, America, God shed His grace on thee..." even if the bullets hadn't cut them off mid-verse.
I thought that perspective was at least implied in the definition of the word.
odd /äd/ adjective
1. different from what is usual or expected; strange.
"the neighbors thought him very odd"
synonyms: strange, peculiar, weird, queer, funny, bizarre, abnormal, eccentric, unusual, unconventional, outlandish, quirky, zany;
There is no indication that any ACTUAL people who would be “offended” this was Delta presuming someone would.
This was no place for singing, however.
If American citizens can’t sing their national anthem on an aircraft, then that aircraft is no longer an American aircraft.
It is therefore foreign territory.
I couldn’t disagree more.
As I said in an earlier post, I do not support this routinely. If it spontaneously happens because passengers see our dead troops passing by, I fully support it.
I would not support it in flight, but on the ground, I sure do.
I don’t want you too sing anything when I’m on the plane. STFU and sit down and eat your peanuts.
STFU and sit there an\d listen. You might learn something.
Thanks for the platform to explain that.
If you want to sing in the gate area or on the plane, then i don’t need explanation. IUfI knew they were allowing it, i would take a quieter airline.
No you don’t need to explain more.
At a time when we trash NFL players for taking a knee during the national anthem, you trash folks for thinking it’s okay to sing it on a parked aircraft.
Why are they singing it? They saw the caskets of our dead service members passing by.
One of the reasons I love our anthem so much, is because right there contained within it are the costs of our freedom. Our men and women die for us, to preserve this nation and it’s interests.
Ninety seconds is too long for you to be inconvenienced when some of our service members who gave their lives for you, pass by.
I sure hope you can make it to an isle if this ever happens on your aircraft. Take a knee. I’m sure you’ll feel a lot better.
If caskets were passing by I agree. i missed that.
That’s the only reason I supported it here.
If there weren’t caskets going by, I wouldn’t.
I’m not saying this should always be done either.
If it spontaneously does, then why not.
If they are on the ground disembarking, it seems a reasoned thing to do out of respect, if it spontaneously happens.
Thanks for your response, clarification.
I appreciate it.
Everyone thinks they are a star.
You have a beef with Delta no one else.
You have a beef with Delta no one else.
If people express disagreement with my take on it, they have sided with Delta.
Thanks.
