In the US, we’ve been inching toward it forever and still have miles to go.

I have both. Harley Davidson motorcycles, one of which I had for 10 years till I fell on hard times, have a mix of metric and English.

I understand that, but when we’re talking 15 meters, I don’t want to bother with it.
Tell me twenty yards, and I know the distance from playing football.

Anybody remember them, sometime in the mid-1970s?

15 meters, 15 yards, within hollering distance.
I remember those old “meter sticks” from high school science classrooms. It’s a slightly longer yard stick.

Nope. Give them 2.5 centimeters and they will take 1.6 kilometers.

The metric system is good for bureaucrats who count on their fingers.

There are two categories of countries in the world; one is those who have been to the moon and back, the other uses metric.

My old 97 Chevy Lumina also has a mixture tho I think most are SAE.
There is one part of an automobile which has always been metric, right from the very start.
Anyone know what it is?

I’m a girl and I even do that.
HS Drill team/halftime shows.
No metric system for me.

I remember when they tried to foist the metric system on us back in 1976 or so.
I worked for the State of Alaska DOT for 24 years and in March of 1992 George Bush I wrote an executive order that any state using FHWA funds must do everything in metric. For two years we had to use both English and metric on all our road plans, right of way maps, etc.
In 1994 when the pubbies got control of congress for the first time in 50 years, New Gingrich said forget that stupid metric system, we're not switching.
If not for that, every mileage sign in the U.S. would be in kilometers today.

Spark plugs too, though maybe there was a time when even that was English.

We are the premier nation on planet earth, and were the ones who are supposed to give up our heredity? PERFECTLY said D1.
I notice on Wikipedia too, if it is not explicitly a 100% American page it will have the British spelling and metric system (Favour, Behaviour, organisation etc etc)
I was trying to read an article on a Dinosaur and everything was in meters and kilos and talking about it's "colour".
You may not have noticed it, but your brain did.
It's just another Globalist "nudge" of starting small and moving to bigger things.
