" Republicans are reportedly looking to lower the annual cap on 401(k) contributions to about $2,400 — down from $18,000 for most savers, and $24,000 for people over 50. "

Someone help me out here.

WHY?

Why would they want to take this away, and how do they expect to get elected to anything afterwards?

They want to take it away because they want their money NOW.

As for worried about their seats, considering the strangle hold the uniparty has on state and local parties, and the golden parachutes that await most ousted Critters, I don’t think they’re too concerned about suddenly having to work for a living.

Drastically lowering retirement contributions would be political suicide unless they drastically lowered the tax rates. It might make some sense if they had a 10% tax bracket out to $100K for an individual and $200K for a couple as an example.

Because they won’t cut spending. Including for all the military adventures that many Freepers support
